I installed the 2018 maps this evening. No issues re download from the site or installing to the Boom Box. That all went well.
However there is a massive fail on this 2018 map upgrade. Not sure if it is the same in the USA but if you check the map version on the Boom Box after upgrading to the EUCVO-MY2018 map update (that's the European zone) you get a map code of HMEU2016Q2 + TUR2016Q2.
I called the HD mothership in the States and was advised that the maps on my Boom Box are in fact 2018 but there was an error in Naviextras which results in the wrong version number being displayed. It is a know fault.
Customer support however couldn't answer me if the maps are a CVO version or a standard version. I still need to check that the maps are actually updated. Customer Support requested that I go to my local Dealership to confirm this error in file name and for the dealership to contact the USA to confirm the issue.
Another error has surfaced since I have done the upgrade this evening to the so called "2018" version. The full Post Code (the UK equivalent of the USA Zip Code) can not be entered into the address field for a destination. The last two characters of the code can not be entered into the Boom Box screen. For example, yesterday (with the previous version of the maps) I could enter a destination Post Code (Zip Code) of "WA16 0PZ" however; today, with the "2018" version, the screen only permits the entry of "WA16 0" the remaining two letters "PZ" can not be entered - the charctacters on the keyboard are greyed out. I have tried several different codes with the same fail result. I also tried the method i used in the old 2014 version of entering the Post Code through the X road (intersection) entry screen - the last two characters still could not be entered.
I talked to mothership HD in the States re this fail in the Zip Code. They were unaware of this problem and asked me to have this ratified at my local dealership so that some solution can be initiated (yeh for sure - another year wait!!!!!!)
So the old adage of don't install upgrades for several months has this time not been followed by me.
And on top of it all my iPhone 6s latest iOS version 11 upgrade has now had two sub upgrades since it was released and my battery usage is totally extreme.
So when am I going to purchase myself a new Garmin GPS and have that fitted ? I wait to see what the dealership comes up with tomorrow.
I will keep you posted,
Visited the dealership in Guildford,. England this afternoon.
The issue I have reported regarding the so called 2018 map upgrade has to date not been noted by the dealership. I am the first to report it to them. Nor have they seen the Zip Code error before. But they have now.
None of the new CVOs they have on display have the new 2018 maps. They have 2017 only.
The Boom Box software version on the bikes is the earlier version and they were thinking maybe the latest 1.21.3.1 version might be causing the zip code error. However, to test this theory (its only a theory) the technicians attempted to download 1.21.3.1 but they kept on getting download errors so we couldn't update one of the dealerships CVOs and then see if the zip code error could be replicated.
So status is "Scratch the Head" at present and they will get back to me with any info gleamed from the powers that be in the States.
