A few years ago someone (in a car) was killed when a sheet of plywood flew out of the back of a pickup and went through their windshield.  It's a dangerous world out there.

Flying bathtubs?  Plywood?  Tire treads are bad enough.  The occasional spilled load of logs in the highway is a sphincter tightener also.

No telling why people won't secure their loads.  I guess they figure if it's heavy it won't go anywhere.

Well, not so.  We now have a law making it a criminal offense to drive with an unsecured load. "Maria's Law" was instituted after a young lady lost here eyesight from a flying shelf out of a bookcase that speared her through the windshield on the interstate.

Since then it is amazing how many similar accidents have occured and been publicized just in Washington.

Real bummer that the rider got taken out, hopefully he can heal up.  Not an easy task at any age especially with someone in their 70's.

I hate it when that happens.

Only problem with this (and many of our other laws, rules, regulations) is that they only work after the fact.  Don't seem to deter folks from doing what they want.

after new shinny aluminum diamond plate tool box decided to take flight, from a pickup truck in front of me
I wont drive behind any vehicle pulling, towing or stowing anything. people don't secure things correctly and don't realize there are other lives at stake.

Yeah, don't you just love to ride behind someone with ladders on their truck?  But how many mattresses have we all seen on the side of the road.  I've seen couches, wheel barrows, all kinds of pails and buckets, and twice now, a whole boat - came detached from tow vehicle - one on trailer, one off.  Two wheels and boats flying at you - definite sphincter  tightening effects.

I try not to follow any vehicles to closely. You never know when one is going to throw up a rock or other road debris from a tire to put a nice divot in your paint. :nervous:

Oh Brotha you know it!! Those people get under my skin the worst. >:( Mine you I have nothing against smokers. I don't smoke cigarettes, but will on occasion smoke a cigar (however this is done outside and away from any that it offends). I've never understood why people that smoke in cars don't like to use their ashtrays. :confused5: If the smoke or cigarette butts bother you that much in your ashtray then maybe you shouldn't smoke. :nixweiss: We not even going to talk about the brush fires that I've had to fight during the dry season because some "dickweed" plucked his lit cigarette out the window of his car. :sauer005:

So my daughter - 27 years old, all of about 5 foot nothin' and 100 pounds soaking wet - when she sees someone drop a cigarette out their window at a traffic light - gets out of her car, walks over and picks up the cigarette and hands it back to the driver and says in the sweetest little voice, "excuse me, I think you dropped this, A$$Hole".  Usually just gets this dumb look of disbelief.
God, I love my little girl!!!

Any one had to dodge Chickens on the highway, I had to once near Fairfield,O on an 1980 FXEF I had, it was a rather harrowing experience.
The cages fell off the truck there were feathers all over the place and Chickens running all over the road. :ROFLOL:
There were feathers stuck on the front of the bike (got two of those suckers), and when I walked into the bar, someone said, ahhhhh you have a chicken feather in your hair. :ROFLOL:
Good thing Chickens are not too solid.
