Finally got my Tequilla Sunrise!
« on: October 15, 2009, 06:56:30 AM »

I chose to go with the all chrome Agitator wheels, because the Black and Chrome did not do a lot for me. Now if the rain would only go away in Nashviile, TN. Also, i now need pipes , because the stock ones makes it sound like a Honda.

Any GOOD recommendations? Has Vance and Hines release their Full pipes yet or just slip ons? I AM SO EXCITED...

Those Chrome wheels are "MINT". Now you've got me thinkin'. I can only imagine what that little upgrade will cost up here in Canada.

Geez i really wish i hadn't seen this thread

Hey Nick you might want to check out Amarican Harley in Niagara Falls NY.  They have an " exchange program" You give them your wheels as trade in for chromed wheels.  The cost ends up to be aprox $ 600 US

Welcome to Club Tequlia :2vrolijk_21: Vance and Hines is "going to release the new head pipe for 2010, by the end of this month" as stated by Vance and Hines at 2 different bike events in the past month. I have also heard that Bub should be having some sort of head pipe set up out pretty soon as well. Have fun with the new bike.

Congrats on the new ride.  The chrome Agitators do look good, especially on the Red, but I'm still very happy with the contrast cut Agitators on my Spice Rum... 8)

Marty,

What's the process? Do you know anyone there? I'm going over the river the weekend of the 24th to Seneca Casino and was planning to visit the store (My wife is depressed since they closed the clothing store in the Factory Outlet Mall)

If it ends up being the case that i ride over and do the swap... that will be my first ride!!! Love them chromey's

oh yeah...check your personal messages...i sent you one

V&H does have Dresser Duals for the 2010 which look a lot like stock.  I plan on them mated with the High Output Chrome Slip Ons.  I think the Tequila Sunrise is the best CVO SG too  :2vrolijk_21: Mine arrives in a few short weeks  :orange:

My local has a Tequilla on the floor and it looks awesome.  They took it outside a few weeks ago for a weekend event.  Man, that metalflake looks as big as pennies in the paint, and in the sun it just blew everybody away - looks like it is actually on fire!  I got the spiced rum, and am loving life on this beauty!

Great looking bike, and excellent choice on the wheels too!   :2vrolijk_21:

Can you tell me if those are the Chrome Wheels in the catalogue or are they re-chromed on the dealer's exchange program? The reason I ask is for some reason and i donot know why the Mirror Chrome wheels 47951-10 & 47957-10 in the book states that they only fit '09 Later Road King and Road Glide.

What is odder is that the Contrast Chrome part numbers in the book and which are the standard wheel in FLHXSE say's they will fit all '09 Later Touring except trike???

Can anyone explain that? here is a link for the install instructions.... http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US/Media/downloads/Service/isheets/-J04979.pdf  and it confirms that issue but without explanation????

Went to visit the local dealership in Mobile, AL today while here on business and they took in me in the back to show me how the owner had tricked out a '10 Street Glide.  They really did a nice job on it, but that wasn't what totally caught my eye.  Sitting over on one of the work tables was a Spiced Rum SESG sitting there getting some items added to it.  One of the things the owner of the bike did was swap out the contrast wheels for the all-chrome version.  I have to say after seeing the chrome wheels on the Spiced Rum, I'm glad I kept my contrast ones.  IMO they look really bad on that color.  Everyone at the dealer, and this was before they knew I had a Spiced Rum SESG, that I talked to back in the service bay said they couldn't understand why he swapped wheels, or it was too much for the Spiced Rum, etc.  Then I told them it caught my eye because a few of the folks on here had done it to their Concords and Tequila Sunrise versions, and I was hoping to see what they looked like on a Spiced Rum because I had one and was pretty sure I was going to stay with the contrast until I saw that bike and now I was very sure I was going to stay with the contrast.  Good thing I didn't waste the money to "trade up" to the all chrome version...wish I would have had my camera because you wouldn't have believed how bad, again IMO, they looked.

It's freeky that you posted when you did. I'm just finalizing my wish list for my wife ;) and I was debating the wheel swap. Too bad like you say... no camera... would love to hate the combo to save a few $$$$. They just look so nice on the other colours I just assumed...

Where did you see a pic of them on the Blue? I am thinking about that swap also.

I don't think it was on here, so I'll have to try and see if I can find it again....I only saw one pic of the Blue with the chrome Agitators on it so I'll try to find it.  It's hell getting old...you know the second thing to go is the memory;  I can't remember what the first thing is.

Congrats!  I see you are from Nashville also.

Congrats!  I see you are from Nashville also.

Congratulations!
Love my SESG in Tequila Sunrise too!

Not in love with the contrast wheels, I will never buy Chrome wheels from Harley again. On my last scooter I bought Harley Roadwinders from an out of state dealer. After less than 60 days on my bike the rear wheel peeled. Harley left me high and dry on the warranty!

Their position was that they weren't installed at the selling dealer so they weren't covered.

I want to install Chrome wheels in 200mm rear and a 21" out front. Probably going with RC Components. They have a 7 year warranty on their chrome and if it fails they replace the wheels.

Love my bikes but the MOCO has a lot to learn about customer service!!!

Hog pro told me that the 200mm should fit if I use a 17 x 6.25 rim rear.
See quote:

"On the '09-'010 Baggers we normally put a 200MM tire on a 17X6.25" wheel. We don't reccommend a 200 on the 18X5.5" wheel, it can get a little squirrely on you. As far as your stock H-D Agitator Wheel, I don't know what size it is. If its a 18X5 or 18X5.5 you should probable stick with a 180MM tire.
As far as the front fender, if its actually lower then a stock Bagger front fender, I would say the 21" wheel and tire will not fit. On a normal Bagger fender it gets real close and we reccommend minor mods to the fender. We have not done an install on a 2010 SE Street/Glide to know what will fit and what won't.  Phil"

I was in Indianapolis Harley a couple weeks ago and they had 2010 Street Glides with 21" wheels already installed. So I emailed them today to see what modifications would be necessary.

I read somewhere that the CVO fender was lower than stock but in comparison photos they appear identical in spacing.

I'll post a response whan I recieve it?

:cucumber: This is my Austin, Texas SESG, it has a SE racetuner, V&H headers & slash-cut slip-ons.  The chassis is fine.  The headers make a big difference.  Upgraded to the hogtunes speakers and adding the tweeter pods.

Guess to me its more about riding than shining the bike.  That was the beginning of another beautiful Hill Country ride that ended up in Gruene listening to live music under the Cypress trees on the river.  How's the weather in Tennesee? :bananarock:

Will post this evening.  The front header goes down the right side to exhaust.  The rear cylinder exits on the right and under the chassis to exhaust on the left.  Makes it noticeably cooler on the seat.

I was going to go with the V&H Dresser Duals and High Output Slip Ons but have decided to put the V&H Power Chamber headers on instead.  If you could wait until Thanksgiving I'll post pictures of them and YouTube a video with sound.  Pricey exhaust when you factor in the SE Pro Race Tuner and dyno time but that's part of the fun.  ::)

My vendor recomended the Super Sert over the TTS and the price is only $30 higher.
I like the TTS but as a current. "Harley" product.  It should enjoy a longer supported life.
I like not having to take a laptop on the bike to get run data.

Just curious ....

The dealer where I get a good majority of my service is very familiar with this "new" tuner and feel very comfortable with it.  I have been going to them for 5+ years for my 2003 and now my wifes 2007 Road King and have got nothing but great results.  With the SERT (I know its different than the SE pro tuner) they were able to get my 2003 with 95 big bore kit, supertrapp 2:1 tunable exhaust, S&S 585 cams dialed in when two other shops (one independent and the other HD) couldn't.  I'm going to give this a try and we'll see where it leads me.  I'll keep you posted.  Your thoughts?

I would suggest that you talk to the wrench who will be working with your bike and if that is you pick something that they/you are comfortable with.  A great product has its limitations when a "human" has to operate it.

My bike is due in to the dealer any day and I plan to pick it up Thanksgiving weekend or the following week.  I'll give a full update that evening while I'm having a cold one  :drink:

Feel free to PM me.

I'm in love.  My Spiced Rum SESG is a thing of beauty but does need some attention.  Has anyone tried the V&H Monster slip ons without the V&H header and with the V&H header. I'm about to spend some big bucks here soon dolling up my doll.

If you are referring to the Monster Ovals I do not believe they will look right or fit for that matter with the extended bags.

I'm in love.  My Spiced Rum SESG is a thing of beauty but does need some attention.  Has anyone tried the V&H Monster slip ons without the V&H header and with the V&H header. I'm about to spend some big bucks here soon dolling up my doll.

Love this forum.  Full of great discussions and suggestions.

Monster ovals won't work. They are small enough BUT the header does not centred on the muffler... in other words the oval is offset almont 2/3 to the outside of the header and the bag extensions are in the way. I was looking at them for mine as well.

any reason why you went with the true duals over the power chamber Vance and Hines header pipes? :nixweiss: You'd actually would have gotten better performance out of the power chamber version...they're 2 into 1 into 2 like the stock pipes, but without the cat.  Just curious...nothing wrong with true duals though...I have them on my SEUC, but did it more for looks than anything else.

Just a styling choice for me.  I like the SESG dual look and went with the V&H headers because of the quality experience on other exhausts.  IMO there isn't a power shortage with the 110 motor once sert, breather and exhaust have been addressed.  Afterall it's a lazyboy recliner not my Aprilia racebike, but you you're right, can't ever have too much HP.

If you're telling me that V&H has a 2/1/2 setup, I wasn't really aware of that configuration.  I was ordering a month ago or so, there wasn't any info. or pictures.  I'd like to see what they look like out of curiosity.  If you have a link or pic, please post or email.

I had these V&H Ovals on the shelf, so I thought I'd give them a try until the aftermarket guy's caught up with the new bikes. Still running the stock headers with a new SERT. The bike runs and sounds great!. I wasn't sure how the mufflers would look with the new bags, but they fill the gap fairly well.

The ovals look great!   8)  To bad the Monster Oval will not work.  I've seen them on an '09 SG with cams and heavy breather and they looked and sounded great.  I can only imagine what they would sound with a CATless 110".  Give it another month or so and we'll have even more choices  ;D

As someone else mentioned, the Monster Ovals are offset so when mated to the header pipe they not fill the bag/fender gap properly.

No, I've got the ovals on my SEUC and they can only be mounted slash down.  Damn, the V&H website said they couldn't be mounted on the 09 SERG, so I, and my dealer, immediately assumed they wouldn't mount on the SESG either.  I love the sound of the ovals and really wanted to put those on the SESG...oh well, I'm very happy with the sound of the basic slippons though....:)

Is it because of the position of the stock header or would it be the same with  a V&H header?

Correct.  And mounting the offset Monster ovals with the extended bags will make for an off-centered muffler.

See post #68 of this thread.  The V&H and stock headers ultimately line up the same.  The problem comes in with the offset mounting on the Monster Oval.

Thread 77 and 78 of this post shows them installed on an SESG. It appears fine on the right but offset to the left side facing the rear?

I would prefer a pipe centered in the opening equally. Nice looking pipes though.

In a last attempt to clear up any confusion, there are Ovals and Monster Ovals.  If you look at the V&H website you will see them listed as such but the V&H web pictures do not show the major offset of the Monster Ovals.  No such offset on the non-montsers.  Usually pictures say a thousand words but not so much on the V&H website.

Hey, MOblue, failed to mention that the pictures of your ovals look great  :2vrolijk_21:

I was going to go with the V&H Dresser Duals and High Output Slip Ons but have decided to put the V&H Power Chamber headers on instead.  If you could wait until Thanksgiving I'll post pictures of them and YouTube a video with sound.  Pricey exhaust when you factor in the SE Pro Race Tuner and dyno time but that's part of the fun.  ::)

Mark

Fuel Moto is offering the same type of head pipe but keeps the stock footprint and used the same chrome shields.  Does anyone see an advantage to one over the other?

Is this a recommended practice?  To wait until after the 1000 mile service before putting on a exhaust system? I am getting my 1000 mile service done this weekend, and I am supposed to get my Freedom Racing Duals this upcoming Wednesday.

not necessarily a recommeded practice, but alot seem to do that. most baby them for 500 miles then give it a kick in the shorts for another 500 just get the feel, then mod it up so you have a baseline to work from.
others, like me, start the mods day one.

Like Larry said, it's just a "window" that some folks do.  I've done my exhaust mods from day one.  On the SEUC, I had a baseline map put in with the SERT and ran it until my 1K service and then had the bike dyno'd.  On the SESG, I had the cans put on when the bike had 200 miles on it (because the new program disc for the SESRT was on backorder) and had a "soft" dyno done just to put a good basemap in it.  There's no set rule, but from my experience, the dealerships that do their own dyno work suggest you wait until at least 500 miles are on the bike to do the full-blown dyno runs.   :nixweiss:  6 of one, half a dozen of the other.

No I just didnt want the dealer to see the maods when I went in after the 1,000 I will do the maintenance myself.

Couldnt wait thought so the Boom Cans are on and man they sound sweet.

The V&H Power Duals do not seem to fit? I say this because the bongs for the O2 sensors appear to be in the 09 configuration and size. there is 2010 paperwork in the box but it references the 2 into 1 pipes.

Maybe they didnt take the SESG into consideration?

interestingly the box had Milwaukee Bagger brochures in it. the install guides however where from BUB???

I am guessing Bub makes them not sure why they didnt market them?

Now I need to find the speaker grill covers for the rear I like the look!!

Those Boom Cans look great on the ride, I am waiting on exhaust from Freedom Racing.  What size is the diameter of the exit on those pipes?

No I just didnt want the dealer to see the maods when I went in after the 1,000 I will do the maintenance myself.

Couldnt wait thought so the Boom Cans are on and man they sound sweet.

The V&H Power Duals do not seem to fit? I say this because the bongs for the O2 sensors appear to be in the 09 configuration and size. there is 2010 paperwork in the box but it references the 2 into 1 pipes.

Maybe they didnt take the SESG into consideration?

What is the VH part number for your power duals. Sounds like they shipped you the 16759's for the 2009 touring models rather than the 16769's for the 2010's. It was my understanding that the O2 sensors are different this year and in a different spot than the 09's (further down line becasue of the Cat) though i think the 09 SERG was like the 2010's

Sounds like they sent you the 09 power chamber header pipes instead of the '10's.  All '10 touring bikes, even the non-CVO's, have the new O2 sensors placed just forward of the collector box (where the CAT is located).  The 09's SERG pipes had the CAT in the collector but had the O2 bungs located just off of the heads on each pipe.  Whomever you bought them from, should take care of you and get you the '10 Power Chamber header pipes.   :2vrolijk_21:

Yeah I stopped at the first dealer I passed today and checked the 09's and 10"s. The pipes they sent are definitely 2009 pipes. I'll be spending some Quality time on the phone Monday.

they are called "Boom Cans" My dealer ordered them from www.milwaukeebagger.com and got me a discount. They came with installation instructions labeled "BUB" so I am assuming they make them now?

They originally were manufactured by Drag Specialties not only do they not make them. they aren't even carried in the catalog?

I love them they sound great and IMHO I haven't seen pipes that fill the extended bags like they should besides these. first saw them on a custom bagger in Milwaukee at the 105th then all over Sturgis.

Turns out the Vance and Hines Power Duals I received are the 2010 version  :nixweiss:

For some unknown reason they left the rear O2 sensor on the head pipe in plain view. IMO it should have stayed below out of view but heck noone asked me?? :soapbox:

Here is a link to a new video with the Power Duals and Boom Cans installed!  :2vrolijk_21:

good job on the video. not sure if the boom cans are that much different from the stock cans with Fullsacs, sound very close. maybe the baffle in the boom can isn't big enough or is it the 2-1-2 setup that keeps it quiet.
are those Boom reflectors ? im just sayin :nixweiss:

Wheelskneels,  I like the sound.  I noticed you have replaced your stock passenger pegs with a "floor board" style.  What are they?  HD Part #? Would like to see the platform for its pattern.  Thanks

Dolt have that answer as I had the dealer include the swept wing passenger floorboards in the deal. They however installed the standard streamliners and I had to order and install the Rumble inserts to match!

The dealers had no clue what parts actually matched the CVO's I found the numbers in this forum! Big surprise :nixweiss:

The inserts were 89.99 each to me

If I had to guess about 450.00 before discounts

I assume you haven't had any handling concerns swapping the contrast Agitators for the mirror chrome Agitators. The reason I ask is that I want to do the same thing and was told by HD technical that due to the increased weight of the chrome over the powder coat that the added unsprung weight caused handling issues on any Touring bike with a Batwing fairing. I don't believe it. There are so many reasons that contradict that thinking that I can't begin to list them. I think it's a Marketing call due to most everyone wanting to go chrome over their decision to go with powdercoating. Thanks for listening...

I assume you haven't had any handling concerns swapping the contrast Agitators for the mirror chrome Agitators. Interesting Gilly.  To that statement I'd like to know how they explain the all chrome wheels on the SEUC. :nixweiss:

Gilly's statement is correct. There is a weight (spinning inertia) limit that the full chrome agitator wheel exceeds for use on 'batwing' models. The full chrome SEUC wheel falls below this spec limit, but it's a different wheel.
The chrome Agitator wheel fits of course, just technically a tad too heavy and 'could' cause handling issues. Therefore 'not a correct application.'

If correct I find this quite amazing, thanks HawgDoc.  That said I'm curious to here a review from the owners out there who've received the all chrome agitators on their SESG's. :nixweiss:

good job on the video. not sure if the boom cans are that much different from the stock cans with Fullsacs, sound very close. maybe the baffle in the boom can isn't big enough or is it the 2-1-2 setup that keeps it quiet.
are those Boom reflectors ? im just sayin :nixweiss:

Got in a little ove 125 miles today on the new exhaust big difference with the Power Duals.

Are you ready to Rumble!!

Not sure if this was asked of me? I am still running contrast Agitators. I plan to replace them with Chrome wheels most likely RC Components. As soon as I determine whats necessary to get a 21 under the front fender and a 200mm in the back they will get ordered.

It’s true that low unsprung weight has a significant impact on handling, and the Mirror chrome Agitator wheel is 0.8 pounds heavier than the Contrast Chrome. Consider that the 18” Blade (40818-08) has an ’04 and later Batwing model application, and is 9.87 pounds heavier than the Contrast Chrome Agitator wheel.

I don’t know why the Mirror Chrome Agitator doesn’t have a Batwing model application, but I am skeptical that it has anything to do with the +12 ounce difference in weight.

I’ve got the 18” blade on my ’09 FLHX, and have dialed it up over 55 a couple of times through the sweepers without experiencing any instability.  :2vrolijk_21:

I think it boils down to they were cheaper to install

Thanks for the info on chrome Blade wheels djkak. I thought about digging into some comparisons with other wheels
that are on the "approved" HD application list, but you answered my question. 9.87 lbs. heavier than the mirror chrome Agitators...WOW!  Thanks again.

I'm still interested in the batwing application issue; as you said, it really doesn't make sense. The answer might eventually come to the surface; although it may take awhile.

The answer will be similar to why they cannot figure out that the seat is 2" too short? :nixweiss:
