Myko's Long and Winding Road to Spiced Rum
« on: November 13, 2009, 05:09:38 AM »

Let me get this out of the way first:
 :worthless:

Starting this thread to put up my mods and pics of my new bike. Yesterday was the planned ship date. This morning I call my stealer to get status. You'd think that being within a long stone's throw of York it wouldn't take but a day ... ummmmmm.

This seems like it's been a long journey. I've been waiting on this bike since late August. We (admiral and I) saw the Convertible in the local shop and saw the new line up with the SESG. Knew I'd have to have it. Drove down to Staunton to see a Candy Concord (blue is my color) and the following day the stealer called with the news that he had a SR in his Phase 2 deliveries. Our name when down. Drove to Richmond and saw the TS - confirmed that livin' in da islands was the way to go. "Can I get a little more spice in that rum, please?"

This list has taught me something I didn't know could be done - stockpiling parts for mods before laying a penny out on the bike. Tonight/tomorrow morning I'll post Myko's SESG Starter Kit. Mid morning today I'll call for status and am anxious to see if I have a VIN yet. Next task, insurance and Jenni for extended warranty.

Wife (Admiral): dubbed this one "The Geezer Glide". GZRGLD as a license plate was taken, we got GSRGLD and had it put on the '07 Deluxe. Da Dux just sold in preparation and as a condition of sale so the plate sits on the counter waiting for it's new home.

Work: have 2 1/2 days banked... get the 50+ mile run done on the way home and then let the mods begin... Got the "look" last night when I revealed the current total - yes, will post pics  :cherry:

First CVO, giddy like a little kid on Xmas eve - I'll keep ya posted. :1syellow1: :huepfenpinkie: :vrolijk_2: :vrolijk_24: :2vrolijk_02: :mickey:

Congrats Myko...now the fun begins.  Where are you at in Loudon County?  We can always try and find the time to do a "double shot" of spiced rum.  8)

Congratulations on the bike.  Many of us can relate to the "wait".  As Gary mentioned....back in 04 and 05 all of us that wanted a SEEG had to plop down the deposit and wait from three to six months average.  So we know.....the sleepless nights after it got to the dealer but before they could prep it.....then the middle of the night excursions to the garage, just to have another look see.  Yep, we can relate. :2vrolijk_21:

Congrats on the new scoot! Can certainly relate to mod fever and the endless flow of cash from the wallet to the scoot. Enjoy the ride.

Thanks all for your comments and warnings!

Western, specifically Round Hill, between Leesburg and Berryville off of Hiway 7. Definitely down for the double shot!

Speaking of bike arriving did you get it from Shenandoah H-D (Staunton)?

 :pumpkin:

When I was at Shenandoah, I couldn't get any attention from sales. Sat on the bike 4 times and wandered around the shop in between sittings. I've got this one coming from my local, Groves in Winchester.
.....then the middle of the night excursions to the garage, just to have another look see.  Yep, we can relate. :2vrolijk_21:
Went through this 25 years ago with my FLHTC, which is till here... I really like this forum as I know the folks here CAN and DO relate!!

 >:( The bad news: no VIN  :-\
:-[ The worse news: Rescheduled ship date: 12/4/09  :nixweiss:
:cool2: The Weird news: It's on the truck with 25 other bikes, 3 others due to my stealer!!  :2vrolijk_21:
:rolleyes4: So when does it arrive? Ummmmmm  :stars: we should start a poll  :sweatdrop:  by the end of the week or mid December..  :nixweiss:

One note, another bike, an FLHTK was also schedule slipped to December but actually shipped 11/07.. it was in the shop today

Trucks don't roll on Saturday, an not often on Monday... so Tuesday we either have a VIN or start the long march to December!

Interesting, to say the least.  But after looking at the disclaimer on the dealer load list, I have a bad feeling that you'll be waiting until December.  The way it's always worked in the past, if the bike is actually on the truck and in shipment, you'd have a VIN...but stranger things have happened when dealing with the MoCo.  I hope it comes in when it originally was supposed to.  Disappointments suck...

Can't help myself here, I'm mentally setting up for a Mid-December delivery, but looking at the evidence so far:
Saw the load list for an FLHTK. Rescheduled ship date was 12/4/09 (same as my SR) and actual was 11/7/09. Moto was in the shop being prepped while I was there.
On another thread, it looks like the Spiced Rums are starting to show up again... this at least eliminates the question in my mind on frame issues that have been discussed in another thread...
So we count down until Tuesday and see if we have a VIN from the manifest :nixweiss:

In the meantime, just what is in Myko's Spiced Rum Starter Kit?
