5,000 Mile Service
« on: November 24, 2009, 09:41:56 AM »

Just completed the 5,000 mile service on my Spiced Rum SESG...

I installed the Fulsac 2.0 baffles...better, but still not loud enough....

1.  Seat replaced due to gap.
2.  Tapping noise from engine....shop said it's normal (of course)
3.  Rattle from gas cap area....shop could not find (of course)
4.  Rubber strap between inner and outer fairing being ordered....coming loose.

Bike runs great....have found several loose bolts during my travels....

Ranger, don't believe I've welcomed you to the board.....so welcome! :2vrolijk_21:  You've bought the best model CVO that money could buy.
#2 is probably normal.....seems that's the nature of the 110.  Haven't heard of it being an issue for anybody yet.  The late 2009 and 2010 models seem to have less issues than the earlier 110s.

#3 Answer isn't acceptable......you may need to find another dealership.
#4 The insulation between the inner and outer fairing has been an issue for a few people for a number of years (was on my 02 Ultra Classic) and that hasn't changed.  But it's an easy fix.

Been riding a lot of years and over the years I've learned to let the dealership (which ever one I may have to go to......only go to a dealership for warranty work) service dept. that my expectations are very high and that I'm not going to accept anything less than it being done "right" and I tell them as much.  I think being firm about something like this right up front (and again when they bring it back to me done half azz), helps them to put a little more effort into it than they might on somebody else' bike.

You should tell us what bolts you've found loose.  Just so we can check ours.

By the way, rule number 1 on this forum.......    :worthless:

Had my 1000 mile service performed and the tech said one of the bolts holding the exhaust bracket to the transmission had fallen out and the second was loose. On further inspection he located the missing bot stuck in the frame. They replace them and use Blue Loctite on them.

Also stated that this had been an issue on several bikes coming in for service.

The rattle in the gas cap area may be the push button for the fuel filler door. Lay your finger on it when you hear the noise and I'll bet it goes away....It did for me..I replaced it with the locking one from the P&A catalog. You don't need the key to open it..there is a button in the center of the key cylinder so it is not annoying to use--ANd it DEOS NOT rattle!!
