SRT8
« on: April 14, 2006, 11:06:15 PM »

I picked up my shinny new Steel Grey 300C SRT8 today.  The car is boss.  It has the same horsepower as my old 69 Camaro had, 425HP, though now at the rear wheel and of course it has leather, a nav system and a decent stereo.  It also costs about the same as it would be to replace my old camaro.  Pics shortly.

Congrats, nothing like horsepower.  Just another obsession though.

I've been driving my SRT 10 truck for 2 years and still love it.  Many mods for the SRT's too.

Here's a great forum if you haven't found it.

Well if I didn't need a 3rd row seat for kids and the stuff, I would probably be driving an SRT-10 truck, or SRT-8 Magnum wagon myself. But alas, I need the seats and room. So I took my 2000 Durango R/T, installed a built engine with ported R/T heads, roller rockers, a cam, ported throttle bodym headers, exhaust and a Paxton SuperCharger. I also beefed up the tranny and installed bigger and beefier brakes too. The results is a gorcery getter that kicks ass and drinks gas. I love it!

Yep, you can never have enough horsepower.  Started with 505hp and went north from there, no dyno so not sure exactly what I got with it.

I did the complete MOPAR update with engine controller, cam, stainless headers, functional hood cold air intake, and complete magnaflow cat-back exhaust with off road mod (no cat).

I used to be able to get on it once I launched in first, now now way, just lights 'em up [smiley=vrolijk_6.gif]

If I start to get too used to the current set up and its time to turn up the ponies I'll check it out.

Pics tomorrow, I promise.  It's dark now and raining so my new ride is stuck in the garage.  I bought a K&N cold air induction air filter assembly replacement today.  $285 for the kit.  They say it will add 21HP and 1MPG.  Given I'm still on my 1st tank of gas (shame on me, I had to travel this week to St. Louis) I haven't had a chance to open it up yet, though a 5% HP boost and a 7% improvement in gas mileage sounded right to me so I bought it.  Several srt8 owners have sworn to me this is a must have.

VERY NICE!!!! I was at the dodge dealer a couple weeks ago looking at the new trucks. They had a magnum sitting on the floor. ALL BLACK even the leather interior. That car is sweet. The H/P rating is even sweeter. A man can never have enough horsepower.

Sweet, found a Black one at a local dealer, wife couldn't get comfortable in the seat though, the lumbar support was driving her nuts....I'm lookin around to see if I can find someone to alter the seats before we decide to pick one up.  That 6.1 looks like it'll do the job, not as impressive as the old 426's or Boss 429's, but certainly better lookin than some of the stuff you see under the hood now days.

My sentiments exactly, here's my SRT10.  It's not a HD Ford but it definitely has the horsepower a guy needs.
