Hi new to this forum. I just bought a 2011 CVO Ultra and want to know if anyone has tried putting V&H true duals and reinstalled the stock Mufflers? I am planning on having it tuned. So wanted to know how that would sound.

You are going to get a mixed set of responses to your question but in short, you will be giving up a good bit of power if you do that. The true duals don't perform any where near as good as the 2-1-2 setup does. There is a company that has tons of fans on this site, fullsac that makes new cores for the stock mufflers that you should do a search on, they also offer a new headpipe. If you are strictly going for looks, then that is another matter completely. They should all bolt together I would think.

I think you will find it doesn't sound too good. I have V&H Dresser Duals (a little different I know) and put the stock mufflers back on my SERK when I took it in for the perpetual knocking noise so the dealer could hear it better (normal by the way, they all do that).  It sounded worse than the stock system, very flat and wheezy.  Supertrapp SE (essentially the same as the old Screaming Eagle mufflers) were better and I could have lived with them.  Monster Ovals were what I ended up with.  I hear lots of good things about Fulsac, so if you like the look of the original mufflers - which I do too - I'd look into them.

Assuming your just after the "look".

If it's performance you want, it's not the true duals.  As Duranh mentioned above, just get the Fullsac baffles and the Fullsac catless head pipe.   You can do a search on this forum for Fullsac to see everybody else' comments, feedback.
