Damn pollen
« on: May 06, 2006, 02:38:52 PM »

Who other than me right now is dying from spring allergies. My eyes are killing me and I can't stop sneezing.I take my Zyrtec but it's not helping. Also I went out last nite for a ride and my scoot was gleaming, polished to the max! When I came out after dinner I had that nice coat of green all over the scoot. So I say #@$%&@^@%^^ Pollen >:( >:(

It is a real.... you know what. You might want to try one of those "California Dusters" (I use the small dashboard size one for my bike) on painted chrome parts. To get that nasty green/yellow haze of the clean scooter (of course you use it when bike is not hot).

Yeah, me too, I'm streaming right now.

And it's so hard not to rub your eyes isn't it?

Lucky for me it clears up when the damm trees stop shedding their pollen - couple more weeks should see me clear but this year is a bad one for sure - like you said Zirtek (sp?) - Cetirizine hydrochloride anyway - ain't helping much.

I usually have to put a cold wet cloth on my eyes and that helps to bring the swelling/itching down - just makes it tricky to ride lol

Cheers (aaahtishoo)

You all have my sympathies, I fortunately never had a problem with the pollen clouds physically, but damn it to try to keep the bike clean is a complete waste of time during that period.. Best way I've found is to put it in the wind and let it blow off to someone else. ;)

I feel all your pain...

As for the scoot...I have a Califorinia duster as well. I use it for the polished up trucks too. And....my only other comment is it has to be very dry!!!!

Now on to those watery, itchy eyes. I am allergic to pollen and animal hair/dander. Above and beyond my Allegra I use...

VISINE-A

Not, regular Visine or Visine-AC, but Visine-A. I am not a bio-chemist, so I have no idea what the active ingredients mean. All I know, is it used to be Ocuhist and Visine bought it from them. The one in the round bottle not the typical "A" shaped bottle. You'll also know its the right one because it is more expensive than the others.

It burns and gives a sensation at 1st. The only way to describe it is like peroxide. That bubbly feeling and then...presto No More Itch!

It's cool stuff. Try it.

Big Daddy,

It is awesome and hard to explain. After that 5-second burn, then tingle, then, ahhh....

I have a bottle in my medicine cabinet, truck, desk and bike.

Well worth always having it.

Im anxious to hear your response after trying it.

Qster,
I suffered every year from pollen allergy  Moved to SoCal, end of problem. You need Mexicans for your contracting business? We got em. Like to ride year round ? Check that Dude. Love those California girls? Dime a dozen little brother. Think your part of Connecticut has money. Try Del Mar, La Jolla, Rancho Santa Fe. What ever you want, we got. Whatever you don't want, we don't got. And the best part is you get to hang with me and Beags  8-)

You just have to like Earthquakes, landslides, and wildfires!  Other than that, it's all good!!

But back to the pollen problem.  Earlier this year, I made a post about the pollen.  The South obviously gets coated before the rest of the country!  Several of you made some good suggestions, but my 5-year-old had the best solution and it fits remarkably well under most helmets!  Maybe DC, d00d, and Duane can hook you up!!!
