CVO Honda Rebel???
« on: May 10, 2006, 12:15:03 PM »

So I have this '86 Honda rebel in the garage...just sitting there...Anne would rather be a backseater.

Looking for suggestions on what to do with it to make it a project CVO?

Rake the fork ... and make a Capt. America Bike?
Add training Wheels and make it a Trike?
Add Fairing and bags and make it a tourer?

I've been sitting here thinking about this,  and I have to agree with Niatram,  the bobber thing would be cool.   Making a small bike like that into a rolling house of sin would be too much.   I've helped friends in the past chop metrics and they're great fun.   You may want to PM Spiderman.......he did a SPF (sh$t Pot Full) of them years ago.....
Good luck

Bill,

Why not all three?  A raked Captain America touring trike!

Never would have believed it, but here's a bunch of customized Honda Rebels.  Including trikes choppers, and even sidecars.  Bound to be some ideas in there.

Currently, I have to sit on the back seat to ride it so, new seat, more forward controls, clean and prwdercoat the engine, paint the tins and frame.

What better way to play with an air-cooled v-twin engine cheaply!

I built my first chopper in 1971. Hard to believe it was 35 years ago. I was 17 years old. To young and dumb to even think I didn't have a clue what I was doing. I hauled my Honda 350XL down over the basement stairs in Maine and set it up on a a couple of sawhorses next to the wood stove. I could pick it up myself and carry it around if need be. I stripped it down to the frame. The motor /tranny were all one piece and the oil was self contained, so it wasn't real complicated. I put 12" over tubes on the front end ( no rake) Trumpet tt pipes, mini apes, tall sissy bar upholstered all the way to the top. Painted it green/gold metalflake (looked like a Bass boat) with flat black lace panels. Hand painted spiderwebs on the side panels. Made my Dad laugh, cause I had a bunch of leftover parts. Rode the thing all over Maine New Hampshire and Vermont. Looked a lot like what you'd get chopping one of these Rebels. The only pics I have of it are polaroids or I'd post one. Anyway, the whole time I was working on it and riding it, I'd dream it was a Harley-Davidson. But that's another story.

Take that Polaroid somewhere and scan it.  I'd love to see it.
