$2,000-$5,000 above MSRP standard?
« on: August 17, 2011, 09:42:49 PM »

So in the Seattle area we have more HD shops then you can imagine.  Like 6+ within an hour of seattle. I have reached out to several and recieved the same response.  Some want $2,000 over MSRP and others want $5,000 over MSRP.  So bascially you have to pay a $2,000-$5,000 bribe to be allowed to purchase the bike.  I am trying to buy two of them and they still won't budge on the bribe money.

I have a hard time with that...  Are my dealership abnormal or is that pretty much what I will face buying from out of state as well.

Look a little harder....mayber further than an hour outside Seattle. They are crooks who are waiting for some sucker who doesn't know the market to come in and be willing to pay anything for a "limited edition" CVO. Plenty of dealers selling MSRP and some even bleow or willing to through in parts discounts, clothing, etc.

And look at the bright side.....if you go a little further away, you can enjoy more of a ride home :bananarock:

I am in the process of buying a 2012 Road Glide Custom,  One dealer wanted $2000 above MSRP flat told him no.  Called me back and dropped the 2k...they must sell bikes to keep doors open...cash talks...money is tight right now and if you are buying two CVO these guys should be serenading you...hang tight they will negotiate.

Javelina HD asking 2K over but wil do 1K with good trade-in value.  Caliente quoted me MSRP which was not the case in the past.  Three other dealers relatively near but haven't checked in with them.

Most of the dealerships in Nor Cal are MSRP.  Depending on what models you're looking for.....there are several CVOs on the floors at Sacramento and Folsom.

Albeit a few, there are still some HD dealers out there that advertise (in store sticker). offer and sell their new motorcycles for MSRP. HD of Lake Charles, LA is one of them....a true MSRP dealer and in their case, the oldest dealer in the state of LA.

Try the small guys and stay away from the "glamorship" dealers that only seem to invoke high pressure, Harley-mill sales attitudes.

Nothing beats an "old school" dealer for sales, parts and service.

Bought my 03 SERK for $1,000 below MSRP.  This was at end of production year; however, the economy was good then and Harley was still in the driver's seat on pricing....and still got it for under MSRP.

Bought my 10 SESG when they first came out (in Fall of 09) and paid MSRP.

Buddy just bought an 11 SERG and paid MSRP.

In this ecomomy, I wouldn't consider anything over MSRP.  I'd road trip to get MSRP rather than pay Seattle extortion.  I'd then ride my new bike to the extortionist and show them what a "missed sale" looks like.

IMO Eastside is the dirtbag of Washington...  Owens (Yakima)has a good and honest name~ typically no set up / BS fees.   Are you getting these quotes over the phone or in person?  In all my years I've never done business over the phone, face to face or not at all.   I bought a second bike a few months back, a 2010 FXSTC, new, for 2,500 under MSRP in Seattle
