« on: May 19, 2012, 01:10:01 AM »

Can anyone tell me offhand if the Gauges on 2010 SG have 1 or more light bulbs, haven't really been out at night since last summer seein how I moved up to Wash state but went out last night and noticed oil pressure light was dimmer than the others.Thought maybe it has 2 bulbs and 1 possibly burnt? Thanks

They've been using that same indicator light assembly since 1996 btw (p/n 68789-96A Indicator Lamp Assy), and yes it has tiny individual bulbs for each function (5).  They are 3.4 watts, Harley p/n 68024-94.  Sorry, I don't have a cross reference to industry numbers.

Sometimes the lamp can pop out of the back of the gauge a bit making it look dimmer. Check it next time you have the fairing off and while your at it, replace the lamps with LEDs.

I just realized I may have misunderstood your first post.  Are you talking about the oil pressure idiot light in the little display that sits between the tach and speedometer and above the radio, or are you talking about the oil pressure gauge?  My previous answer assumed you were talking about the idiot light.

If you're talking about the small gauge that sits below the volt meter, then Matt's response is right on the money.

Jerry, I was referring to the gauge, all others are bright but the oil pressure seems to be like 1/2 bright as the rest. Thanks.

The Oil Pressure gauge is made differently from the other gauges.  It will never be as bright, even with the Super Bright LEDs installed.  The background of the gauge blocks the light. Get used to it.

Anyway, you should change the bulbs for LED because it looks much more brighter with them on:

CVORICK,  If I'm not mistaken, it seems like it is as I explained, it appears to be dimmer like there is a bad or missing bulb not just  being made differently but I will pull the fairing apart and check. Thanks again All.

I do understand your explanation and maybe there is something wrong that removing the fairing will find.  Some more explanation can be found in this old thread.

Hope you get it the way you want it.  PS - by "Get Used To It" I was only suggesting that Harley won't fix it.

Don't ride at night and you won't have to worry about it.
