Saturday coming home from Sturgis, it was still early in the morning when we crossed the Nebraska/Kansas line and removed our helmets.

By the way, I was in 6th gear.  Needle pegged at 120.  Never looked down again to see the RPM, but I don't think I hit the limiter (6200) before I backed off.  There really wasn't any throttle left to twist.  I just hung on and looked through my little stock windshield.  I'm still massaging the crease out of my Corbin seat.

Moderators [smiley=nervous.gif] That's a question for GRC!
What you say Jerry? How fast was Hub running in 5th @5800 with that 6speed tranny?

Nancy and I were on the stock 03 Silver-n-Black dresser and the GPS was reading 106 and Hub and Otis were
aahhhhhhhhh well,, "becoming rapidly vanishing black dots". :o
I kept it on a 100 for a while and after they slowed down we finally caught up to them.

Chip,

Since 5th in a SE 6 speed is a 1:1 ratio, 5800 rpm with stock primary, final drive, and tire would be 140.8 mph.  Throw that baby into 6th and pull 5800, and you'd be looking at approximately 158!!!  Hub, I remember making a comment about a year ago in the "top speed for a seeg" thread that it would probably take 160+ hp and balls the size of an elephants to hit 160 mph on an e-glide.  It seems you definitely have the elephant part nailed; how about the horsepower?

GRC,

I won't agrue with the math, but the wind from speed, coupled with a roll bag on the tourpak and T-bag on the passenger seat would not permit any more out of the banana.  My dyno at 6200 rev limiter recorded 165 MPH in 6th.  I hit the downhill grade at 120 on the speedo, which translates to about 110 GPS.  I just couldn't get anymore out of it with my build.

Now if I had Grover's or Hubbard's builds, I don't think I would have the stains cleaned out of the seat yet.

The fairing really limits the top end capability, and handling.

I did not believe that West Virginia had a road straight enough to go even 100 mph. Had to give it a shot myself to see how fast they were really going. Had ole Bessie up to 5200 in 5th gear and going well over 120, where the speedo quit. Still increasing speed when I had to slow down for I was comming to the end of the bridge. The only straight road to try this is the bridge form the island to the mainland "4.5 miles" where I live. I am really not sure if the feeling I had was that of exilleration or of fear. Any way you guys were rolling.

The short straight stretches in WVa is why we have very fast motorcycles.
