Stage 1 Efi Flthcuse 06
« on: August 27, 2006, 11:00:39 AM »

I was looking at the Parts book and stage 1 EFI Ecm Calibration is not listed for the FLTHCUSE 06- or will not work with the air Stock aircleaner! What to do- Do I Have to change out the CVO air cleaner or is there another part Number.

Or is The CVO 06 I have have a Stage 1 in it already? I don't think so?
 Thanks for any info

Vaz...no, it does not have the Stage I already in it, nor does it have the SE air filter, though some dealers will say it does....it doesn't.  Do a search on here for the "Roll Your Own" air cleaner...it will give you the part numbers you need for the Chrome backplate, bolts, o-rings, gaskets, etc, then get a K&N A/F instead of the POS paper filter the dealers offer now.  Then you can give them 150 bucks for the ECM download for the increased air flow the filter kit will give you.  If you're going to change pipes, now would be the time to do so.  Before delivery, I had the air filter kit installed, plus the SE Slip-on exhausts, with the matching download for that set-up.  If you go to other exhaust systems, like true duals, etc, depending on what you do, you will have to get a PCM or SERT to get the proper tuning for your particular set-up.

I'm happy with the things I did...nice sound, good performance.  If/when I do motor mods, then I will go to a closed loop system and be done with it.

It will help a little bit if you don't change the pipes, but don't expect leaps and bounds more.  It does let the motor breathe better though, and once done, the K&N will last you forever...no more paper filters to buy!!

VAZ...I think you will see some increase in performance if you do this....I can't find any dyno charts in the 06 screaming eagle catalog with just the A/C kit to make a comparison.

I'm just guessing here, but maybe something in the 4 to 6 HP range?

Some of you more knowledgable guys help me out here!!

OK but with these part numbers Do you lose the orginial CVO air cover or do you reuse it?

VAZHOG,
As long as you use the K&N filter you use the same air cleaner cover. Read the thread on the additional gasket spacer. Some of the Air Cleaners have the bolts come loose. (Maybe these were only the Zipper with larger air filters?)  Hope you get the power your looking for,  John

VAZHOG...

Rolled mine using the "Zippers" air-cleaner and then placed our stock "Screamin' Chicken" air cleaner cover over it...

Looks good - works great - and when you order the back-plate spend the few extra dollars and go for Chrome - others might not see it but YOU will know it is there!

HD does not make a SE Air Cleaner that fits the SE Air Cleaner Cover.  Even the roll your own will leave a gap in the leading edge of the filter and the cover.  You can purchase a 1/4 round rubber gasket that is used on other air filter applications.  Cut it in half and then cut a taper to it (see my comment towards the back of the Roll your own thread).  I also used a small spacer between the air cleaner and the cover to reduce the pressure on cover at the bolt head.  Otherwise, loose the cover but the options are much more expensive than the gasket.
