I attended the 05 Club Hog in Chattanooga and enjoyed myself , spent most of my time demo-ing bikes and listening to bands , Steppenwolf was GREAT.

I'll go to the Knoxville one and the "High Octane " tour from Chattanooga to Charlotte because they are close and the roads are nice.

But the Maggie Valley gathering has been by far my fave , you guys are the best.

With you nidan 100% [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

I guess I don't understand why the "great minds" at HOG schedule these event in conflict/close proximity to other mainstream events?

The National Rally in Knoxville is 2 weeks after Sturgis this year? The FL State Rally this year was the weekend after Biketoberfest? Seems even if you want to compete for participation, those are NOT the venues to compete against.

Is it just me?
Interesting point, Killjoy. Actually the FL State Rally worked out pretty good because a lot of members were in Flardah for Biketoberfest, then stuck around for the State Rally.  2007 FL State Rally in Cocoa Beach will be the same timing.  It worked for the vendors, too. We had 30+ vendors, mainly because a lot of them were already in Daytona and didn't want to head back up North so soon.  [smiley=sunny.gif]

Thanks to my wife, I was involved in the 2006 FL Rally from the start, and found that planning one is REALLY tough. Biggest help is folks pre-registering. Next biggest help is YOU signing up to VOLUNTEER... amounts to committing to just 4 hours of doing whatever they tell you to (you get a special t-shirt and pin). Yes, you still have to register and pay... hell, I had a Staff (woohoo)shirt, and had to register and pay.

Watch the website for '07... I'm gonna have a little fun with this one [smiley=evilgrin.gif] (if they don't cut me off).

Nidan,  what a joy it was to finally get to meet you this year.  Nidan - sounds like knee_don.  Second rank or grade. Second degree black belt in martial arts ranking systems.  I looked it up when I got back home.

Wish there had been more hours in the days in MV, cause there were so many folks I wanted to spend more time with and I think I mostly stood around with my mouth hanging open in amazement at how many people were there that I had e-communicated with at some time or another.

And for your sentiments, we have been to many, many of the rallies close to home, but none of them were like partying with "family" like the CVO rally in MV was like, both times we went. In fact, it was so great, that we will forgo some of the HOG rallies this upcoming year to do the CVO rally in Nelson, BC and the Ride to Nowhere for No Good Reason, just cause we know some of the people who will be there and know we will have an absolute blast.

I attended the national HOG rally in Billings this year and it was OK but that's the best it got. Willie G showed up and a few people got to meet with him and if you were close enough you could see him on stage. The entertainment was mediocre (IMO) and we left after the 1st 2 songs. Billings isn't exactly a garden spot (sorry, I'm spoiled living where I do, no offense to anyone from Billings) I don't think I'll be going to another national rally but hope that the Knoxville one is a great one for those that will attend.
I guess I'm probably burnt out on HOG rallys after going to so many. I'd much rather attend events/ride with this crazy bunch.

SEULTRA thats all they are OK. It's the people you go with and or the people you meet. Now that is where the fun is.

Be Safe

I don't think it's just you.  I'm finding more and more people who don't attend the major rallies anymore, for various reasons.  Some never attend HOG events.  I'm no longer a HOG member, myself (for no particular reason).  I wonder if these events aren't really in competition with each other, in that they appeal to different markets.

Plus, there's just plain that many riders, now.  I was at the small rally over in Sebring while Myrtle Beach was happening this year--there was still a good crowd in Sebring.  Those folks weren't going to go to Myrtle, anyway, or it was too far to justify the trip in terms of time or cost.

I too was disapointed with last years national HOG rally in billings. Our WI. state rally puts on a better show. But Beartooth pass made up for the lackluster rally. What an great ride over beartooth pass and surrounding areas.
