The lighter socket is on the right hand side of the fairing but it does not come with the lighter itself. You will have to order the lighter from Harley.

These days it's usually called a power point, not a lighter socket.  Not all power points are necessarily suitable for use with a cigar lighter btw, so you may want to verify with H-D first if you want to actually use it for a lighter.  Harley calls it a power outlet and it has moved over to the right side of the inner fairing for 2014.

A lighter wont stay in the power port, now ya gotta buy a power port conversion for 30 bucks and open the fairing to install it in place of the port.  Even with that the placement SUX...on the right so ya gotta use throttle hand and it's hard to get at.

What model year bike were you discussing with that dealer?  The 2014's don't come with a lighter, so he isn't taking them out to prevent theft on those.  Perhaps he did that on the 2013 and previous models.

yep there is room and I think the first time the outer fairing comes off I can drill the hole from the inside in the inner and install it then.

They are $12 bucks to replace when some idiot decides they want/need it more than you do (replaced two so far...now I remove it when I leave it parked...what a crock).

As for the 2014's not coming with a cigarette/cigar lighter, go with a Zippo.... :huepfenlol2:

According to the P/A catalog the lighter socket isn't supposed to be used as a power source, just wondering why?

Wire gage, lighters are low amp draw, so the cables are thin.

Makes sense, just another way to save cost, reduce flexibility for the end users.

Finally got it did!  I went with function over form, and now it's totally accesible with no fumbling around.  My Indie installed it along with Moto Lights and Fulsac.  Now we ready to rumble.

I think that could only happen if you wired it to something else and the lighter caused the something else to fail, but there's a hot lead behind there and the instructions clearly say tie into it. It's pretty tight and about the only place it would fit is upper right side on left panel side of radio.  or replace the power port on the right with lighter.

Void what warranty?  If you drill a hole in the fairing and damage the fairing or paint, then yes he would be correct, the warranty wouldn't pay to fix any damage you caused.  That's always been the case with any kind of warranty.  The rest of your warranty won't be negatively affected.  In other words, BFD!  Even if you did screw up the inner, it's not a huge expense to buy another one.  It's your bike, do what you want and don't let stupid dealership employees mess with your head.
