« on: June 10, 2017, 09:49:23 PM »

Has anyone  taken the medallion off the rear fender? I believe it's held on by it he sieve tape and wondering if it could be lowered without being covered up by the license plate.

It has two small location bumps on the back that align it into small indentions. You could grind off the bumps and stick it back on but after grinding the nubs you will have to get new double stick tape.

Hi you will have trouble removing the medallion it's held on with double sided tape that is covering a black plastic grommet I don't recall seeing any bumps to fit into indent ions best of luck

You can try a heat gun to warm up the glue on the tape them slowly lift it off the fender, if the tape didn't get torn you should be able to clean the area you want it to be and place it back on.

I always use fishing line to pull behind it to remove the double sided tape.  That seems to work pretty well.

Fishing line is the best way to get it off but just pull straight through it, don't do a saw motion because that tears the tape up and makes it un-reusable.

Double sided tape is a ONE TIME thing only. Do not reuse a part that has been removed no matter how careful you are. The part will fall off eventually. Any autopart store has small rolls of 3M Red backed double side moulding/emblem tape. Cheap and has a thousand uses around the house as well. Clean the back of the emblem with rubbing alcohol or prep-solv and then cover the back of the emblem with the tape, use a razor blade to contour and also clean spot on fender where you intend to install the part on with Prep-solv or rubbing alcohol (lightly) to remove any wax or residue prior to installing. Will be just as good as new.
