Turkey Pardon and PETA
« on: November 22, 2006, 04:45:13 PM »

I'm not making this up....

PETA Wants Better Care For Turkeys

Animal rights group PETA is urging Bush to see that pardoned turkeys get better care.

The group said that although the chosen birds don't become part of a holiday meal, they never see the next year's Thanksgiving because they die in a few months.

In past years the pardoned turkeys were sent to a petting zoo called Frying Pan Park. This year the White House said the turkeys will be sent to Disneyland, like last year.

But PETA said that the turkeys have been drugged and artificially fattened so their bodies can't handle more than 6 months of life.

PETA is asking the president to send the turkeys to an accredited animal sanctuary just outside Washington where they can receive special care.

OK,so if they are concerned about the turkeys what about a rutting moose that bit off more than he knew........................

Pogo Moose Incident - Fairbanks, Alaska

"They were laying new power cables which were strung on the ground for
miles. The moose are rutting right now and very agitated. He was thrashing
around and got his antlers stuck in the cables. When the men (miles away)
began pulling the lines up with their big equipment, the moose went up with
them.

They noticed excess tension in the lines and went searching for the
problem. He was still alive when they lowered him. to the ground. He was a
huge 60 inch bull and slightly peeved !"

Beag's family adopted mine when we moved out here from Maine. We are headed to his parents for dinner. You cannot believe how big, loud, loving and insane his family is. And woah Dudes, his mom can cook better than Emeril,Bobby Flay, Paula, Mario, and all of those Food Channel dudes and dudettes. I am fasting right now, no breakfast, no lunch to make plenty of room for it all.

Q)What do you call 20 Polish people eating Thanksgiving dinner?

A) PRICELESS !

PS. It is weird though 20 people wearing the same bowling shirts and me with my Aloha shirt on. sigghhh oh well, maybe one of these days they'll make me a real member of the family and I'll get a bowling shirt too.

If PETA wants to really do something worthwhile why don't they suggest that they send those unused turkeys to some homeless shelters where they can do some good? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]
