Which handlebars are you using on your FLHXSE /FLHXSE2?
« on: December 06, 2010, 12:11:58 AM »

I was reading Lastdegree's post on the mods he made on his scoot and I wondered if you guys still keep the stock handlebars or if you're using something different? My dealer told me if I won't install rider backrest, I can stick to stock handlebars BUT if I install backrest, I should change'em. I probably have to wait and see for myself but wondered what handlebars you guys use.

It depends how tall you are..... With the rider backrest I feel more comfortable with the stock bars than without it...... :confused5:

I am 178 cm which is 5"10 which isn't tall at all. Guess I have to judge by myself when bike is here. I just hate the 1" handlebars. Looks very corny in relation to the hefty price tag

Went to 12.5" Paul Yaffe Monkey Bagger Bars. Much more comfortable and no more back pain!

The std bars placed my arms way too low and felt that it was cramped. It was better for me with the rider back rest from Corbin which was great and suspect gives similar support to that from HD.   Getting the bars a little higher makes more room and places the arms at a better position IMO and the 1.25" really suit the bike.

I run the same bars on my bike. (12.5 Yaffe Monkey Bars) I'm 6' 1" and the bars put my arms almost level with my shoulders.

Bike looks great Volski. Looks like you're using the fairing mounted mirrors. At 6'1" how do they work? I'm 6'2". Thanks

About convinced myself to go with 12.5 Chubbys but still pondering the 14s. I hate the stock bars.

Volski- could you put another pic up from a different angel, like the front? I really like those, would like to see another view of where your hands are in relation to the fairing.

went to the local HD shop and asked about installing the  12.5" Paul Yaffe Monkey Bagger Bars. they said it would be 8 hours labor, for the install. this at $85 an hour. then they said that because of the tight angle of the bars, that there could be a problem down the road, with the wires chaffing. any comments? :nixweiss:

My dealer charges 8 hours labor to install internally wired bars.
I've never heard about the wire chaffing thing.
