White Stickers on Front Forks
« on: May 04, 2012, 09:50:53 PM »

I just got my new CVO Street Glide home and I cant believe there are stickers on the inside of each front fork and they are touching the fender and I don't see a way to get them removed without taking the fender off. My buddy got his bike about three weeks ago and I called them to see if they are on his bike and after a closer look they are on his bike also.

Anyone else have these stickers and how do you get them off?

We are both amazed the dealer didn't remove them...

I did not notice them before but after reading your post I looked and, sure enough, there they were.  They look like they are inventory stickers from the factory because they have the fork assembly part number and a QR scan code on them, among other numbers.  They are on there pretty good and not easy to remove but I was able to get them off using the edge of a credit card and very, very slowly working at it.  They seem to be a foil-type of sticker so try to start at one end and keep it all in one piece so it does not tear.

I probably never would have noticed them but once I did I would never NOT notice them so I am glad I was able to get them off  :2vrolijk_21:

I have them also no big deal to me. If you spray some WD40 on them let sit a few min they will lift off no problem.

Are they touching your fender or maybe its an illusion , but man they look really close and I didn't want to take a chance on a scratch.

So , spray so WD_40 on them and after a few minutes I will be able to lift them....

I saw them on mine when I was cleaning the front wheel....it's not big deal and they don't bother me at all, as you really have to look for them to see them...

I figure a good sharp flat screwdriver and scrape the little suckers right off!  All else fails, put it up on the lift an remove the wheel and fender!

I believe you will find those decals on all the forks going back for many many years, and I will also guess they are installed by the folks at Showa who actually make those forks for H-D, to identify the different versions.  Mine appear to be more of a silver color btw, not white, and it takes a concerted effort to even see them.  Not exactly a big deal, and definitely not something I'd ever consider wasting time to try to remove.  But if someone is really that anal, I'd suggest removing the wheel and fender to do it right, rather than trying to scrape them out of there with some sharp object.  What would you rather have, a barely visible decal, or a bunch of scratches?

Unfortunately, I am that anal where as soon as I saw them I had to get them off.   :)  I was able to get them off in about 15 minutes without removing the wheel or fender and without scratches.  I am now stickerless!!!  :2vrolijk_21:

Okay.  So there I was on this pretty Sunday morning. I was reading this thread and I had to check out those stickers.  Let me first say that I can be very anal about my bike.  I do and have done some pretty silly things that did make me happy and not many others would or could understand.  I did see the "small white" stickers on the forks.  I never noticed them before nor will even attempt or think out trying to remove them. Why on earth worth those bother anyone?  Look what you have to do to go find them.  This one was really funny to me.   My next thing I might be thinking about is upgrading my speakers and amp. I notice that while riding.  :nixweiss:

Okay.  So there I was on this pretty Sunday morning. I was reading this thread and I had to check out those stickers.  Let me first say that I can be very anal about my bike.  I do and have done some prett silly things that did make me happy and not many others would or could understand. :nixweiss:

I never said it made any sense...lol

I really was able to get them off without much trouble which is the only reason I did it.  I never would have tried to removed them if I would have had to take the wheel off or go through a big hassle to do it.  I have done dumber things in the past and I am sure I will probably do a dumber thing or two again in the future!!

I just scraped them off with the edge of an old credit card.  Once you get one entire side started I just worked at it gradually.  Once I was able to get about half of the sticker up it peeled right off in one piece.  Don't just lift up one corner and try to peel them off diagonally because that may rip them which will make the job harder.

Gotcha thanks. I just got caught in some rain, might be easier now while the bike is wet, lol.......

So do the stickers, once off, get put in the back of the Owners Manual?
Thats where I put the ones cleverly stuck to the engine saying that they must only be removed by the owner. The ones that say only use Synthetic Oil. What do other folks do with their stickers.

Oh and by the way, this thread has to go down as totally pointless.... LOL  :jalapeno:

I can't think of a single reason to keep any of those worthless decals they stick all over the place to cover their azzes.  Like the one that reminds you a motorcycle doesn't drive or handle like a car (no chit sherlocks), or the silly ones on the air cleaner and the "crash" bars, or any of the stuff the attorney's require them to apply.  As for the ones telling you to use SYN3, I made sure I removed those and trashed them before I left the dealership when I picked the bike up.  I did find it strange that with all the other stupid stuff they do apply, they didn't have a big orange and yellow decal with flames on it applied to all the exhaust system parts or the engine proclaiming "Caution - This Part May Be Very Hot".  I guess the lawyers missed that one.

now that I've read thru this whole thread, I have a more important question for this group: What's the easiest way to remove the stickers on top of the engine guard (crash bar)?  Without scratching the chrome, of course.  :-\ spyder

I actually didnt go out of my way to check it out. I was like polishing and those white bits of sticker kind of were there before me.
I wonder what other hidden stuff I will find in the depths of the bike.
