Rebuild...
-
wow! and the brother in law was just there!
I'm sure he had nothing to do with it, pretty sure!
if he did that would of been one slow burning match, since it was last month!
oh they will re-build, I'm sure they had insurance coverage 5 time what the place was worth
-
Hope he didn't use an accelerant

That crossed my mind too...

Friction fire? Insurance Policy rubbing against a Cash Register??
-
I understand it was a total loss, damage estimated in the hundreds of dollars. Many strippers displaced, causing biggest humanitatian crisis in So. Dakota since Tom Daschle's defeat.
-
They have 11 months......they better get busy.
Oh wait.....they already got the plans drawn up for the new one. :P
-
Hmmm
-
Bummer.....I really liked that place and won't be the same after rebuild.
-
someone better get Firedood on the way to investigate!! :drummer:

never been there, but wow, buildings must be cheap in south Dakota......
-

If they do find him innocent of torching the place, I'm sure he'll still whine about how much money he needs to survive !
-
Was there last month. It one of the places I always stop when out there for the Rally. I'm sure it will be rebuilt, but it will not be the same.
-
at least emmet's ok

Kind of funny how IT happens just after Sturgis? Been there, done that, not impressed. Watch the show and they argue about money / paying the bills! Said was his best year ever and made money. The Bud frog says they still owe $80K! Really. Any wise man sees a wanna be biker that needs to wash his hair and be a man to the Flaunt girls! All I have to say is a poor business man and thank God for Leslie Beaver and her establishments that don't stroke you for a beer! Just saying! I will give Leslie $2 for a beer all long day and she is biker friendly and just a good down to earth lady!

Funny how things happen....I thought that this place was the biggest "dump" I've ever been in and if you wanted a drink you paid what they want in a 5 star restaurant. If by chance you decided to sit somewhere you had your choice of either a bench or an old torn up chair covered in dirt and grime to sit on. Bathrooms were non existent but anything that could make money for Ballard was there...shirts, hats, trinkets, booze, etc. Hopefully, after Ballard grabs the insurance money and sells what's left, the new owner of the property will build and run a business that caters more to the customer then to the "cash register". JMO.

This business was like being in coastal Maine during tourist season... You have to make the entire year's gross in a matter of weeks when the bikes are in town.

a Flaunt Girl get too close to the Stolies?

Very convenient that they had 500 gallons of grain alcohol on site. I was told by a fireman that if you want to start a fire make sure you use alcohol as it does not leave a traces like gas would. Maybe a fired00d can confirm this.
 :nixweiss:
-
I would think a fuel, like grain alcohol, would leave something, if nothing more than tell tell signs of intense heat that can only be caused by a fuel source. But then, I'm just speculating.
-
I will not go into specifics on setting of arson fires and I know Dood will not either. The news stated that the 500 gallons of grain alcohol was on site. Fire crews did back off and advanced hose lines to the area to defend the scene. If it did break loose it is all downhill to HWY 34. I don't know if their wagons carry AFFF. I know the Air Force Base units would but I don't know if they were dispatched. The way this place burned it might be very hard to determine cause. Give it time Gentlemen. You still may very surprised to hear the outcome on this one!!!!
On a good note Emmitt survived the fire and was doing well

I just can't figure out why they still had 500 gallons of alcohol there, when it was all locked up for the season.

Guess they did not sell it all during the rally. Why move it? It doesn't go bad sitting there. Would be fine to sell next year had it not burnt.

Looks like the Feds are getting involved:
Full Throttle Saloon blaze sparks major federal interest Special ATF team joins probe of fire that destroyed world’s biggest biker bar (http://www.kotatv.com/news/south-dakota-news/Full-Throttle-Saloon-blaze-sparks-major-federal-interest/35203328)
They are estimating the loss at $10 million.
 :nixweiss:

I can only assume $100,000 covers the loss of the structures. The other $9.9M covers business interruption (if it doesn't reopen by next rally), and the emotional loss. I mean, money can't replace all that one of a kind old dirty nasty crap they had piled up around there.

Ya know that one man's trash is another man's treasure. LOL
It will most likely cost a couple million to clean up the mess and dispose of the hazardous materials. You know there has got to be plenty on that site.

looks like ballard's off the hook, ATF says it was accidental in nature.

Emmitt knew all along...
(Good thing all the speculators weren't on the jury, MB would have been lynched hung before the trial!)
-
So the Feds figured out the cause of the fire was accidental - an overheated pinched keg refrigerator cord. And the only insurance was on the campground and customers - with no insurance on the rest of the grounds or the buildings that burned.
