Title: BSR - Introducing the CVO wives support group
Post by: JesterDecor on May 23, 2007, 02:59:45 PM
Since apparently we can't have our own section  :P , I'll just post here and introduce some of the members you know and love but that don't generally post a whole lot (at least not in any technical threads). We're the proud members of the BSR's Club (Back Seat Riders Club)! We're the ones that support the lifestyle that is worshiped here @ CVOHarley/Hoist?.com!! It's different than being a rider but has a perspective and culture that needs to be acknowledged and respected (DAMNIT!!)  :huepfenlol2:

The better halves are as follows:
JesterDecor - Cheri (HogBreath's)
Binx - Barrie (Hoist's)
HarleyDiva - Suzanne (TCnBham's)
???????? - Trish (deepsoutheagle's) (sign up girl!!)

I know there are others here and others that we are encouraging to sign up (I'm talking to you Susan/ghost rider, Pam/Mav7266!) I'm sure there's plenty of other BSR's that just need a little nudge to be a part of this great site and have their voice/opinion heard too!

Now, this thread is for the wives that are back seat riders ONLY!!  (It's okay if Barry posts too tho!  ;D ) So, y'all guys just need to put any threads starting with BSR on your ALREADY READ list and stay out!!  :P

Everyone knows how much fun the CVO GTG's are and this is the place for the BSR's to get to know each other just like the guys have so we can all feel like part of the family too!! So, come on in so when we get to Hot Springs (the next one that HogBreath has told me about, which is a thread for another time!) it'll be one big happy CVO family reunion for EVERYONE!!

Just saw Dood had moved this thread.  Man Gary, you've got bigger ones than I do.  Messing with the women like that.

I thought "off topic" was cat puke and other things unrelated to riding?  How can riding as a passenger be "off" rather than "other."

It's that damn domino effect leading to the slippery slope again.  Communist regimes in Asia falling to Central America leading to threads moved at cvoharley dot commmie.   :huepfenlol2:

Hoostie (good one JD) I like that name!

Whats this chit about "better half"

Damn
another hijack!
Nancy's gonna beat my a$$ (I hope) ::)
I'm into pain! If that pain isn't bad good enough I'm gonna apply for the moderators job in the Thunder Mountain section of this site.

I'm thinking Nancy should conduct the CVO/riders a$$ class.
Then we would have a bunch of horsepower hungry women.
Damn, what a good idea!

I thoroughly respect/admire the BSR's that are on this forum.  Binx is my hero.  Anyone who can ride behind her husband at 95-110 mph going down I-77 to Charlotte on the 9 day trip without beating him (Hoist) up when she got off the bike, isn't the normal female.

Our intercom system is not for back seat driving.  It's for whispering sweet nothings into Terry's ears.   :-*   Also for rocking and rolling to XM radio as we roll along.     :)   Sigh ... being a BSR is the best.   :2vrolijk_21:

Cheri, you go Girl.   :2vrolijk_21:

Absolutely.  After seeing Howie's response to full dresser I too would be entertained....  ummmm, I meant to say interested to hear his reactions to what he might see as a Dresserfied Road King  :huepfenlol2:  .
His reaction may not count as much as her reaction. If she likes it he may have to conform.

Just don't let Binx see that. Hoist won't let her have the XM. He's got to have the 'hotrod' motorcycle with no creature comforts.  ;D

You FD guys kill me. Neal, seeing that fairing on a SERk will not sway me one iota! All the crap about XM and Intercoms will not sway me. I still continue to maintain that You FD guys Kill me!!! I would never ride 120 MPH listening to XM and bopping my head to the beat. I ride my bike hard and love it that way. If I want XM, I'll take my truck or stay home! When I ride, I RIDE. And that's good enough for me. That's my passion!!! Still think you can persuade me? ::) Hoist! 8)

OK, so I am not a BSR, so maybe should not be replying in this thread, but Binx, when you say there is no way to getting a radio, it reminded me that I, like you, used to think I would have no use for one. While my husband was riding the Road King, he would go through so many exotic attempts to create some way to get music to listen to.  The list is endless of what he tried, some cheap, some expensive, none met his expectations.  Then he got the SEEG and that was that.  I was just cheerfully going along listening to my engine and trying to perfect that shifting to what the engine sounded like and looking around at the sceneray and smelling the smells you get while cruising around our great country.  Three bikes later and my husband bought a SEEG for me for an anniversary present.  Well, it had bonuses that I had never even considered.  One of them was the radio.  He added XM to that and then, I became a fan on not only having tunes on the bike, but XM tunes.  Always great music, don't need to download anything, never know what the next great song will be, and you know, I can still hear my engine just fine.  I love it.  I'd just say that Never Say Never!   :cherry:

For me it's a mood thing.  There are times when I really like having the music in the background.  But it does need to be the right music.  As much as I like it, however, at least half the time I don't want it.  Just like the sound of the road better.  The more open is the space the less I want the music.

I know.  I never would have thought it. Before SEEG, I had no interest at all in having music on my bike.  I was given the bike and it just had stuff on it I did not even know about, let alone know that I would fall madly, obsessively in love with.  I am not sure how the producers of the XM stations can have that perfect song come on at the perfect moment, but they do.  A lot of times, Jamey and I listen to the same station, and a hand signal will come back to me to acknowledge that we are both listening to the same great song, together under that same great sky.  I'm not trying to necessarily promote XM, just trying to say that don't nix what you've never tried.  I didn't know I wanted it, but now, will never go to a bike, or a car for that matter, without it.  I just got a new car - XM went in.

I do sometimes ride with just the sound of nature and my bike, but I seem to do this less and less over time.  Even if I just have the sound on low, I always have the music on, it seems.

I don't have the "need for speed", hell I don't even like to drive my cage!! The fun for me is the fresh air and the friendships! I still prefer to have music, I've always been a big music lover. Agreed...since we wear the Nolan's 90% of the time on the Ultra, and the J&M headsets, I pipe the music into the helmets most of the time, then we each have our own volume control for the helmets, so we can pick according to the mood or environment.  When I'm dicing it up in traffic, I generally want no other distractions, while Diva can rock out to her heart's content.  On a nice twisty road, the right music can help get me into the rhythm of both the road and the bike.  Kind of all fits together sometimes...

I also keep an MP3 CD loaded all the time, so I can always pick the right song/band for the type of road I'm on if the XM isn't getting the job done.

Candy, what are your favorite stations?  I'm generally on 46...

Binx...if Howie won't get you a fairing with a stereo in it, get you and Ipod with a good set of ear plugs, and have an even bigger smile on your face!! ;D

Channel 46 almost exclusively, but if the roads are real good and I am riding them real good (not always the way it is) then I like to kick it up a bit to Channel 49.  If I am feeling a little blue or not really wanting to rock, I will choose the year channels and sometimes listen to 60s and 70s.  Lots of choices.  When we drove last year to Florida (in car) we listened to the comedy channel for hours.  I am going to try to remember that station for the Nelson trip, for sure.

What y'all BSR's need is the set up that Puzzeled has. The flip up monitor so y'all can watch DVD's.

Hi MrsWe, Yep XM radio rocks.  :2vrolijk_21:   Terry has downloaded several of our favorite songs to c.d.'s so we alternate between radio and c.d.

Riding behind my Man on a Harley
Communing with Nature
Listening to Tunes
Getting away from work
Sharing good times with CVO friends

Priceless!   :)

I had J&M speakers and an Ipod added to my FLSTS.  Does anyone know whether XM is compatible in trhe UK amd Europe :2cr_01:

XM satellite radio is only in States and Canada.

The system uses two called geostationary satellites Rock and Roll located respectively at 115°O and 85°O.

In 2005, XM include/understand 150 chains (among which 68 musical chains, 30 chains of information, entertainment or sport and a score of local chains).

Covering all the North-American continent, they were built by Alcatel Space on a platform Hughes System 702.

The transmission is carried out in band S.

hi Jaques what's our equivalent?

I know not all but I think that we have not the equivalent in Europe.

It's possible to have this system in States because it's the same country and the market is enough important for the investment in two specific satellites.

In Europe, it's one market for each country more we've not the same language.
