Scott, the human body just isn't designed to function well after 5-6 decades.  We're entering the points in our lives where parts start to fall off, get hard, get soft, and just give out.  Be grateful bunions can be taken care of so easily these days!  If that's the worst you have to deal with, you're a lucky man.

Get well soon, we need you around here as long as possible!

And a scan of a copy of the "after" x ray...  You can see where the bone was cut thru, aligned and pinned.  The pin will come out in a couple more weeks.  And you can see where the large "bump" on the side of my foot was cut away.  The doctor was pleased with the outcome when I saw him today.  Of course, I tell myself, what else would he say!   lol...   The pain is starting to lessen.  I think in another day or two the focus will shift from "painful" to "patience".  Stitches out in a week.  Pin out the following week.  Can start bearing weight in 4 to 6 weeks depending on how well the bone heals.  Then I start all over with my right foot!

LOL...

He's very disappointed that his routine of "play, treat, play, treat, play, treat, etc., etc." has been interrupted.

(but not surprisingly at all, he's not left my side)

Ahhhh... so the look is more of "when the heck are you going to get that off your foot so we can get back to our normal routine." :D He's a good pup and knows he is well cared for... he ain't going nowhere until you are ready to go too. :2vrolijk_21:

Part 2-Good luck tomorrow on your right foot!!!!!!!

Thanks Bob...  Surgery on my right foot tomorrow.  Then another 8 weeks of crutches and "no weight bearing".  I'm actually looking forward to getting it done.  And letting the healing begin!  I should have done this years ago...

Yep...

Cut the bone in front of the joint of the big toe, realigned, screwed and pinned it back together.  And shaved the huge bump off the side of the ball of the foot.  No weight bearing for three to six weeks.  In about eight weeks, we get to repeat the process on my right foot...

Best wishes on a speedy recovery and hoping you like the outcome. My sister went through this surgery in her 20's. It took her a long time to recover.

Thank you, Simon...  So far, I'm pleased with the result of my left foot.  I'm hopeful the surgery on my right foot will go as well tomorrow.

Absolute best thoughts heading your way Scott to regain the comfortable bi in bipedal.  Having the pooch at close to full speed while you're not might be a problem this time.  Just glad the dog is doing good and you're halfway home.  Best wishes and feel good soon.  :drink:
