Travelin Man
« on: July 08, 2008, 09:30:45 PM »

Might as well start a thread on this as I am getting a few PM's inquiring of my health

Am out of work perhaps permanently with a condition known as Spinal Stenosis

It is a narrowing of the spinal cavity that causes pain, numbness and some other not so pleasant symptoms.

I've spent over two weeks going insane at home doing zip, zero, nada, nyet

My Mom needs me in Maine, I hate planes and can't ride LD very far these days.

So I am driving Linda's Mitsu Eclipse Spyder GT-6. 160 mph car with a 650 watt Rockford Fosgate sound system cross country

Pop a 1/2 a vicodin every 4 hours, drive from the back seat ( I be phat LOL ) with my feet elevated on the firewall and I'll manage

Drove as far as Flagstaff Arizona today 526 miles

Not too bad, my feet are a bit numb and the back is stiff, but I think I'll be fine in the AM

It has been suggested that if I drink a lot of water, I will have to take more breaks - - - good idea as my legs go numb quickly

Thank You, (you know who you are)

Would have died on a motorcycle crossing the Mojave today as it was 117 degrees out there

Next stop is Amarillo and then on to Memphis to visit with MJZ, JR, HogBreath, PHASE and ultrafxr.

I get to ride Elvis  :) :) :) :)

Then on to Mr and Mrs We's house for an evening and a day

Then to JQ's to celebrate his birthday with him

And finally to Maine

I have dubbed this The Summer 2008 Scot Cuthberts Commemorative Tour (SCCT) as I am ripping a page from Scot's book in riding OPM's along the way and when I get to Maine

Fine Example of Gump's Rule

It seems that JW Marriott in their wisdom decided to put a floor to ceiling mirror across the room on the wall opposite the bathroom door.

Nobody but me here, so I decided to use John J Crapper without closing the door

You didn't type that from said crapper did you?  (I feel dirty)

Your route take you anywhere near Buffalo?  Or more NE?  I've got a warm bed, a cool pool, and award winning steak if yes.

Hey BB.  Sorry to hear about your health issues.  Nice to see you are able to get out to give your dear old Mom a hand.  Have a safe trip and take care.  Hopefully they can fix you up somehow so you can enjoy long rides again.

BB-

Read you were retiring but had no idea this was the reason why.  Have a safe trip - it's going to be a long one but sure you will be looking forward to seeing/riding Elvis again!

A fellow I worked with had this same malady as you.  He had a Foraminotomy (enlarging the nerve cavity) at the same time as a Laminectomy (creating more room for the nerve root).  Had to look those names up - was years ago when he had the procedures & I forgot what they are called.  These helped him & remember him also getting several series of shots in his lower back but not sure what those were - steroids I believe.

Good of you to take the time to visit your Mom when she needs you & know you will have fun seeing CVO folks along the way.  I used to suffer from a bad back (hasn't reappeared in a few years) but that is very lightweight compared to what you are dealing with.

Godspeed, Bro.

BB,

Sorry to hear about the back problems.  My wife has been dealing with back issues since 1990.  Three level fusion in low back and five level fusion in neck.  She had a spinal stimulator implanted in her back on Feb. 15th this year.  So far, it has been great.  She has been able to stop taking pain med that she has been on continuously for the past six years.  She is mentally & emotionally a new person.  She is doing things that she hasn't done in years.

Anyway, if you are running I-40 from Amarillo to Memphis and need a place to spend the night and rest the back, I live about 30 miles east of Oklahoma City and just about seven miles north of I-40.  All the beds in the house are "back-friendly". :2vrolijk_21:

Thanks for the well wishes Bill.

It's a bigger car than you might think. I have all kinds of room. Like I said yesterday, the seating position is like a reclining chair; leaned back, feet extended and elevated resting on the firewall. I'd have turned back and gone home 300 miles into the trip yesterday in my Ranger.

So far and I'm good. I take the pills, drink a lot of water, stop a lot. 609 miles took me 9 hrs today ( ok so I drive fast when I'm not stopped) Gorgeous all morning and up till about 100 miles out of Albuquerque, then rain almost to Amarillo. I had the top down and Ray Charles singing the blues, sun on my face, 70ish

Got into Memphis about 4:30 yesterday MJZ met me at Bumpus H-D at 5 and brought me back to his house. Southern Hospitality almost instantaniously in the form of a Maker's on ice in my hand. JR came by and we went to a local BBQ spot where we met up with ultrafxr and PHAZE. We STS over some fine southern cookin and libations. Pictures were taken (not by me) so they should get posted somewhere. If Memphis had Dago weather I'd be in absolute heaven. It is such a nice area. But I gotta tell you, my body is programmed to an average humidty of about 15% and it's gotta be 90% here. Wanted to buy the new H-D Hydration vest at Bumpus, but all they had was the jacket which of course costs three times as much.
S'anyway, HogBreath is on his way and we're going ridin soon. Me and Elvis together again Yee Hah  (ask MJZ to post the picture of our reunion LOL)  I'm doing fine. Having had total knee and hip replacements, I know what my tolerance is on taking the meds. Even with my back this messed up, I have no desire to check out just yet, so I pay attention. But thanks for the words of caution.

Loving every minute of your trip Brian.  Would have been outstanding to get to watch as you and Elvis saw each other again.  Glad others were there to enjoy it with you.  Hope you're having a great time.  If MJ finds a little car in his driveway and Elvis missing after you're gone we'll all understand what happened.

Well I'm at my Mom's finally. 3,500 miles, 8 days, 3 visits with the best people in the world (CVOHarley people of course) , three day-rides on 4 different motorcycles, some BBQ, some fine steak and some lubstah, Maker's, brewski's - - - I gotta tell you the hardest part was stopping.

Sooooooooo, picking up the tale from when I arrived in Memphis, MJZ, JR, ultrafxr, HogBreath and myself rode around the countryside outside of Memphis, into Mississippi in heat and humidity enough to melt LBS's tigers into butter but I seemed the only one affected. Mark and Jerry had on jackets for criminy's sake. But ridin ole Elvis is worth the price and a great day was had. Tried to chase after HogBreath when he lit up that new 120, but ole E's no match for the big motor ( although I did get it up to about 112) Went downtown Memphis for some world famous BBQ and a good time was had. Before turning in for the night, brother JR said a special prayer over me for which I am very grateful as the words touched my heart and hopefully the Great Biker in the sky was listening too. Many many thanks to all the Memphis folks and especially Mark for putting me up. You guys are true southern gentlemen.

Next stop was the plantation country of Virginia. After a 13 hr drive from Memphis to Colonial Heights, Mr & Mrs We welcomed me with big hugs, a cool drink and a tempurpedic mattress. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, slept like a rock until about 0730 the next day. Up and showered and downstairs to one of Candy's famous smoothies. Be nice to her and maybe you'll have one. On to another day's ride. In spite of having a gorgeous 95th anniversary RK in the garage, Jamey insisted I take his B&B SEEG. 1st thing that happened is while I was adjusting the mirrors on exiting the driveway. Mrs We rocketed off down the road all but out of sight. Note to visitors to the We household, keep an eye on that girl or she'll dust your sorry a$$es. But Jamey's bike is a runner and catching her was as simple as asking those 575 cams to do their business. Also, much to my pleasure, despite being several inches shorter than me in overall height, Jamey has the same inseam as me, so the pegs and everything were just right. Anyway, off we rode to Surrey where we met Hogasm and Blue Felix. Now that's what I call value added. I thought my face would crack from the smiles seeing these two put on me. Thanks to both of you for riding nearly 6 hours round trip just to say hello and spend a few hours. Anyway, from Surrey we rode the ferry across Chessapeak Bay and on to Yorktown where we imbibed and enjoyed the local fare ( Crabcakes what else ? ) Nice ride through some beautiful and historic scenery and back to We house for a fine steak dinner. Another night on the tempurpedic and off to see my bro Q

10 years have passed since I last dealt with the eastern seaboard and the I-95 corridor. Don't anyone ever complain to me about California traffic. 95 is one long city that starts in Richmond and ends in Portland Maine. AND, to add insult to injury is the damn tolls. From the We's house to my Mom's totaled just shy of $40 in tribute to the toll highway pirates. But I digress

After much abuse from the traffic, I arrived at the Q-sters house. Here's another tip to any of you single guys. Marry a nice Italian girl. JQ's wife should be cloned and copies sold for lots and lots of dinero. We'll leave it at that. Had a nice dinner followed by some beer and Maker's around JQ's new fire pit and then sleep. Next morning we met up with some of the Q man's friends, one of who had two bikes so JQ being the bro he is gave me his to ride and jumped aboard an 07 UC. I have to tell you ladies and gentlemen, it's a toss-up on the best SERK in the entire known universe between Elvis and brother Q's 02 Purple beauty. Both have to be seen in person to be believerd. Anyway, after some meet and great, Q , myself and three of his local bros were off on a birthday's adventure, here and there ending up at the Rhode Island seashore and then home to JQ's for lubstah followed by the most delicious dessert I ever tasted. L& R Bro !

Up early and off up I-95 arriving at my Mom's house here in Maine at 1000.

To sum it up, there's not enough I can say to say thank you to everyone who shared their homes, their bikes and best of all their friendships with me. I hope what I've written here conveys to all of you reading it that we have something truly special in the people who share their lives on this website and of course in real space.

There's always the return trip Neal, but I have to tell you, in spite of having the best time, I am beat up pretty badly from the riding. I doubt LD will ever see the open range again unless some surgeon is able to work a miracle on my back. Several times during the adventures described below, I had my right leg go so numb, I couldn't feel the brake pedal and had to manuever with front brakes only. LD might be going up for sale upon return to Dago with a new to me SERK  (maybe an 02 Candy Crimson with a reworked motor ? ) taking it's place since my limit seems to be no more than 1 hr at any one time in the saddle. My days of sea to shining sea are all too sadly done and gone. As someone once said, never put off till tomorrow what you can do today as tomorrow may never come. I am eternally grateful that I did as many cross country rides as I have in the past 10 years so that with those dreams fufilled, I will not be sad to move into another phase of my life.

Brian, thanks again for sharing the road stories.  It's been great to read and follow along.  Sorry not all the riding was as comfortable as it could be but the rides themselves sounded spectacular.

Enjoy the summer break at home.  Already looking forward to your trip back to Dago too.  Don't forget, if you're able to make it through here on your way west there's two bikes and a spare room in Joplin too.

Enjoy the time.

BB,

It was so great seeing you again! We wouldn't have missed it for the world, especially since you were so close to us. We had a great time with you and Candy. Colonial Parkway is such a beautiful ride and having great weather and great friends to ride with just makes it even better. I wish Jamey could have joined us.

So glad to hear that you had a good time with Q and that you made it up to your Mom's safely.  I know the whole trip took alot out of ya. Hopefully now you can get some rest and hang out for a little while, at least until MV.

I must be getting close to the finish line. My company is saying they want my laptop and cellphones back by months' end. Also, I have to ship my aircard back this Monday. As such, I will only be on the site sporadically after this weekend. I will have to log on at the library or at a friends house. My 82 yr old Mom does not own a computer.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words of support

I have a Verizon wireless UM150 USB modem that I use on the road.  The modem was free from Verizon and the wireless service is only $69 per month for 5 gig (per month) of service...  I get service anywhere my cell phone has service.  There are less expensive plans for less usage per month...  I have never come close to using 5 gig per month.  It works very well...

Happy to see you posting while you can my friend.  We so much enjoyed you.  Jamey got both CVO bikes out this morning and washed them up. Sorry your ride was dirty.  Then he took that gorgeous RK out for a short exercise.  He parked in front of the door and when I saw it, it was all I could do to go back to work.  Hopefully we can ride together this weekend. It has been a long time since we got out together, in fact, I think that last time was when Brian and Kathy stopped to by to show us her gorgeous new Cherry.  Have fun at Mom's.

Good to hear the trip home went well and that you now know what to your mum for her birthday/Christmas present - a new laptop!

Just to finish two stories, I couldn't ride with Candy & BB because I was teaching a MSF Basic Riders Course. As for the clean SEEGs, they be dirty again. Nice ride up and around Lake Anna, lots of nice rolling twisties!

I hope you get a chance to ride with them there boys from MA, that sounds like fun!

really enjoyed reading about you enjoying the trip. man, dont get so down----------------it will all be good.

broke my neck and other stuff in 98. heard stuff like, " it will be okay. you will get disability benefits" HORSEchit!!!!!

dude, a great neurosurgeon crankd p the saw and i walked out of the hospital, 24 hrs after they wheeled me in!!!!!!!!!

a couple months and i was swimming twicw a day and telling the doctors to release me to work. they made me wait of course, but it happened. took a job selling cars. the running for 12v hours a day improved my strngth even more.

then one day, i said those words that everyone told me to never, ever think again-----------im gonna get another bike!!

moving on, i got back into the field i love, pulled a serious power wheelie yesterday all the way through second, and pain management is minimum .

it WILL be better man, all ya need is the right surgeon.

Talked to Brian about an hour ago.  Said he was sitting outside, having a bagel getting ready for another day of a good trip.  No easy access to the Internet at or close to his Mom's place so he said to let everyone know that it's been a great time at home so far.  Lots of family issues taken care and a wonderful time reconnecting with his mom.

The back is still bothering him but, aside from that, the Big Man seems real happy with the time in Maine.  Not a long time now before he starts heading west again.  So anyone fortunate enough to be on his planned trip home has good times in their near future.

Thanks for the update Don. Is he stil planning on MV :nixweiss:

It didn't come up.  But my assumption would be not.  That's based solely on Brian's mentioning a tentative time frame for heading back toward SoCal starting perhaps a couple weeks from now.

Please don't take this as definitive though.  We were just shooting the breeze again.  Having too much fun to talk about anything important like schedules.

Yo Brothers and Sisters
Sitting in a Mikey D's using their Wi-Fi. Raining buckets for about the 30th day since I got here. Spent the day at the estate on the lake yesterday with a friend who helped clean up after all the vultures who had been through and begged, "borrowed" bought or stole many many things. My personal favorite is the individual who claims to have borrowed my Dad's 1K generator and now says it was stolen from him. Yeah, I know I should call the cops, but I have neither the time nor the inclination to deal with a bunch of petty theives. Still however, the property and buildings are there and will stay in the family for generations to come. We are having a family gathering tomorrow, rain or shine (what shine) I have slain all of the dragons who wished to fleece my Mom and she is now in full control of her affairs and only myself and my sister in law have any legal standing. I hired some in home care for her and contracted for a remodel of her bathroom for handicap access and several other issues which will make her life easier. My Mom's health is quite good and although she gets frustrated with her limited mobility, she is happy and content and so glad for the work I have done helping her regain control of her life.
With the family gathering this weekend, I will begin to hire some tradespeople to do repairs and upgrades long put off at the estate on Sebago Lake.
All of my doctors have submitted paperwork supporting early retirement due to physical issues so I will be retired by the end of the year. Lots of things to decide, but I am fairly sure I will have lapband surgery to get enough weight off so I can have the decompressive laminectomy I need to relive the pain from my spinal stenosis. As to how I feel, I am basically getting along. I have to almost be in constant motion shifting from sitting, standing, walking, lying down etc as no one position is comfortable for any length of time. Sleeping is the most difficult. I generally get a few hours at night and a nap in the afternoon. For those concerned, my intake of prescription pain killers is still at the same level as it has been which is to say very low. I don't need drug problems with all of the other issues going on at this time.
Got invited to a MMMC Anniversay party in Farmington NH at the club's new 22 acre compound. Impressive. I see I taught them well as to how to make a non profit organization profitable. No desire to rejoin but it was still nice to see some of my old bros and the ladies.
It looks like I will return to SUNNY SoCal soon after Labor Day and will not make Maggie Valley (this year) I have to begin another round of exams and paperwork for retirement beginning the 18th of September and have to be at home by then. I have not as yet mapped out a route for my return trip. So many of you have offered a place to stay and a days respite from the road and if I take everyone up on their offers, my route to Dago will look like one of Bill's (WFP) road trips. The trip east however was magnificent and charged my batteries for the mental strain of what I needed to accomplish once here. Again, my deepest thanks to my hosts on that leg of my journey.
I will log in again a few more times before heading back west

Ride safe and as always

What a fantastic update, so positive and fraught with wonderful opportunities.  Great news about your Mom being able to be stabilized and stay in her home for some time.  We talked about my husband's Grandmother needing to be hospitalized this spring, and then never able to return home, ever again.  She keeps asking but she is just not mobile enough to navigate simple life chores.  Hope your Mom keeps staying in her home as long as it makes her happy and she is comfortable.  Securing the family retreat estate from the vultures is a paramount accomplishment.  For years and years to come, I hope your family gets to enjoy it.  We've seen the family estates fall out of the family over the years, and is is such a shame.  Everyone understands how it happens.  Some ONE must step up and secure everything.  When it becomes nothing but a chore and an expense and there is no reward for it, the estates fall out of favor.  I hope your family puts reunions on the calendars each year so everyone can remember what it is worth.

Once again I feel honored to be "allowed" to be a member of this family. Though I've yet to meet most, the sharing of the good and the not so good and the feelings that they trigger, let me know that I've found a home. Spidey, sincere wishes for your healing, enjoy the travelling as best you can. As a word of advice, BE PATIENT. easier said than done I know. As in everything else in life, there will be good days and not so good  days with the back. I've been fighting my own stenosis for ten years. Just remember one thing on one of those not so good days, there's a whole lot of people out here with you, wishing you the best.

Well, I just got caught up here (after digging for your last post to see where in the hell you'd gone) and sorry to here of the trauma and drama but good to hear that things are seemingly coming together B B.

Hope your time off will be restful and you can get things on track post family reunion and before you head home.

Be safe and I hope all works out well for the retirement and surgery.

I can tell you that getting the weight off will do miracles for the creaky old joints and bones.

Be well,

Hi Brian.  Just got in and played your phone message.  Will do on the search with Jenni and will CC you a copy.  Glad to read you're in.  Was going to call this evening but will wait a day or two for you to get your sea legs back and be rested up a bit.

Really enjoyed the stories of the trip.  It was great hearing all about it.  Glad you had such good time :2vrolijk_21: :drink: .

1536 as I type this and I'm finally feeling awake. Got up and sleepwalked around a bit this AM, but mostly still in some sort of intercontinental time-warp from the stress and strain of the past 9 weeks. As John Denver once sang, "hey it's great to be back home again "

To answer the posts below (or above depending on how you've formated your screen) I rode 7 different bikes while traveling around the USA between Dago and Maine. So I guess any references to Scot riding OPM's is forever buried. Many many thanks to the owners of those 7 wonderful machines. And of course to those who were my most gracious hosts for the day long layovers in which the riding got done. Mark in Memphis, Candy and Jamey in Colonial Heights, Q and Heather in Conn, and Don C in Joplin ; I am in your debt, all of you and look forward to the chance to repay.

The ride home was mostly four 800 mile blasts in the Mitsu rocket sled, with one layover at Twolane's house in Missouri. As had been the case on the ride east, events unfolded which could be interpreted as the hand of a higher power showing me his righteousness. During the 7 weeks I spent in Maine, I rose every morning at 0545 and headed to Portland Headlight with a supersize Dunkin Donuts coffee in hand. With strains of Tony Bennett playng softly on the Mitsu's Rockford Fosgate sound system, I watched the sun come up on the east coast each morning and the lubstahmen of Portland habah head out for the day. Given all I had to accomplish during my time there I needed this quiet time each morning to charge my batteries and gird my loins so to speak for the day's trials and travails. While visiting with the illustrious Twolanerider and also enjoying the companionship of Ghost Rider and Mr and Mrs Cuthbertson (alias the much previously maligned Scot C) my host took me to the Downstream casino which straddles Indiana, Missouri and Kansas for dinner. There was an outdoor concert going on after dinner and Don got me around back and in a prime position to watch the show which was a night under the stars with - - - - - - - - - - you guessed it Tony Bennett. If that's not karma, I don't know what is. Many thanks to Don for hosting me, loaning me his red/red/red 00 SERG and for the company of all. It was certainly a great respite from the long days of driving coast to coast alone.

So now I'm home and the process of separting from my company of nearly 28 years begins along with the visits to the doctors and forms to fill out to collect my disability retirement. To be 100% honest, this malady (spinal stenosis) is very real and I am not sure how much longer I will find myself able to ride on two wheels unless surgery proves to be greatly beneficial. As luck would have it Harley-Davidson has chosen this time to re-introduce a trike, this newest version being an Ultra-Classic based model as opposed to the spartan Servi-car of yore. Seems that one thing I have in spades is a great sense of timing. But as my dear sweet Mom sang to me when I was child, " Que sera, sera, whatever will be, will be. The future's not ours to see, que sera, sera.

Sad to say AJ, no MV for me this year. I have to go through the process of documenting my Spinal Stenosis for the insurance company that will be paying off on my disability policy. That means another round of MRI's, doctor's visits, whatever they require. That's why I came home now instead of a couple weeks later. That process begins on 9/18 and I need to be here in Dago.

Y'all have a good time and I'll catch up with you one of these days.

Brian,
Glad to hear you've returned safely. We can catch up on your travels and photos after the Mitusubishi pace car lag clears.  :2vrolijk_21:

1536 as I type this and I'm finally feeling awake. Got up and sleepwalked around a bit this AM, but mostly still in some sort of intercontinental time-warp from the stress and strain of the past 9 weeks. As John Denver once sang, "hey it's great to be back home again "

It was great having you here a couple of days Brian.  Really enjoyed it.  Was great that it worked out for you and Scot to be here at the same time.  We didn't do a lot of riding but we did a lot of playing mixed with some riding.  It's all good.  Scot seemed to head out satisfied with what we accomplished and we all had a great time.  Can't ask for much more over a long weekend.

Glad you made it home recharged and ready for whatever comes next.  Just as glad got to see you on the way :2vrolijk_21: .

I guess we did kinda-sorta.  But never took a single picture.  Was having too good a time to stop and do it I guess.

Sunday especially; Scot had his red SEEG and the red Switchblade here.  Travis was over all day with his red SERK and of course we had the red bike and the red SERG.  Just never got a picture of all the glorious redness together.

From Brian's arrival to Scot's departure had the crowd around for three days.  Has actually been a good summer that way.  One of the Texas crowd visited a few weeks ago.  Another passed through from east right before that and just before that had meals and beverages and a late night with another buddy heading from west to east.  So it's been all good.

This weekend though having the five red riders all out to a run to the MO/OK/KS line to dinner and a little highway buzz back after dark was a lot of fun.  We also got a few nice chores done to Scot's bikes that he'd been looking forward to.  So it really was a great weekend.  But now I'm in withdrawal.  No more playing.....

Man you did miss a great photo op w/that many red different year/model CVO's there. :(

So Scot owes us pictures. :nixweiss: You just don't travel w/two bikes (especially Scot that is the master of ROPB's :D) unless you are getting something done to them. Come on Scot show us what you did. ;D

He was enjoying some well earned time off travelling around with a beautiful young girl and two bikes in tow.  Have to admit that most of the bike chores we got done didn't have much picture value to them.

He made a great change with some pipes on the Switchblade and changed out the black master cylinder and handlebar clamps for chrome.  The SEEG got mostly hidden work though.  Working inside the fairing and under the seat.  It did get a set of the Heat Demons heated grips installed but the only thing you see there is the switch :nixweiss: .

Was just checking the History Of CVO and if you would've had an '02 Red (Candy Brandy) SERK, '05 Red (Electric Cherry) SEFB, '05 Red (Two-tone Light/Dark Candy Cherry) SEVRod,  '06 Red (Scarlet Red Pearl & Charcoal Slate) SEVRod, '07 Red (Inferno Red & Desert Black) SEDyna, '07 Red (Light Candy Cherry & Black Ice) SEUC, '08 Red (Scarlet Red Pearl w/Dark Crimson) SEDyna, and a '09 Red (Ruby Red & Typhoon Maroon) SEUC along w/the 4 red bikes there you would have had all the Red CVO's (did I miss any :confused5:).

In looking up how many red bikes I discovered that there have only been 7 orange CVO's (8 if you count the Black/Orange SEUC).

BB - Glad to see you made it home and had a good trip around the country. I appreciate the QA on my BnB, haven't changed the foot pegs though. Can't decide if the right is too high or the left is too low, Maybe in another 50,000 miles I'll get a better opinion...
Careful with those Docs, I know you'll be taking charge, just don't let them fill you full of drugs, it isn't the answer.  :stars:  Then again, I haven't found a really good  answer yet, so if you get a good one, pass that muther on!  :rolleyes4:

It bears mentioning that there were some folks I wanted to stop and visit with that I passed on. First off, Chip and Nancy- - - - Mother Nature cancelled my visit with them. Next was Otis, Hubbard and the folks in West By God Virginia. I had planned on getting there after having to bypass Chip, but when Randy told me he had to work all weekend it made little sense for me to stop by. My apologies to all, but on the upside, once the dust settles on my forced retirement, I hope to have plenty of time to visit many of my CVO family.

One thing that has gone unmentioned in all of this. When my Dad passed last year, I sold my beloved 03 SERK Elvis to Mark Z in Memphis in order to have some cash with which to straighten things out. That cash was set aside and was spent on this recent trip and was a key to my being able to keep the estate on the lake as well as pay some lawyers to play pitbull for me. So I must again thank Mark for buying Elvis and even more so for letting me ride the Big E again.  :2vrolijk_21:

So glad to hear that you are home, safe and sound.  I know it is much easier said than done, but try to find a way to not get too frustrated by the process you will have to go through to get your retirement in order.  Take your time and do it right, cause it is easier than trying to fix it later.  So glad we were able to get together.  Wish it had been longer, but as it was, you could only have picked a better time if it had been a weekend that Jamey was not working.  Since then, our time has gotten less and less, we have both been on the road more than not.  I have only ridden my bike once since you were here, so your time here is even more precious.  Take care and we will see you again soon.

Gary, I was wrong when I said there were no pictures from the little visit here last weekend.  Just emptied the camera and discovered I'd snapped two the entire time.  Taken while we were all in the garage working on Scot's FXDWG.  One was too crowded to be any good.  This one I like though.

Big B thinking, "hmmm, wonder what goes up there?"

I've been back in Dago for a week and already I miss Maine so bad it hurts and also miss being out on the road and visiting all of you. Once I get done this next round of Dr's visits and tests etc for my disability pension, I'll be coming to your town soon. I owe several of you a visit that got put off due to the recent spate of foul weather around the country.
