BREAKING NEWS!
Just got the phone call!
Someone that we all know is on the way to pick up his 00 Triple Red SERG!
Congrats my friend!
It's very ironic how it came together!
He will be posting pics when he gets it home!
Stay tuned!

triple red..... could it be Twolane

triple red..... could it be Twolane
That was my thought also, but then Twolane mentioned that the Progressive shocks he had been holding back on to possibly put on a SERG had been sent to Chip. So I'm not to sure anymore. :confused5:

Bingo!
We have a winner!
Unless there was some gross misreputation of the bike it should be at his house tonight!
And pictures to follow!

Twolane wasn't kidding when he said the weekend was off to a good start this morning... :2vrolijk_21:

It's true. Been back with it for a couple of hours. Didn't know of this bike's existence yesterday. It all came together this morning. Here's the story:
You know how when you wash the car this causes the rains to come? I should have sent those shocks to Chip a long time ago. Because sending the shocks out yesterday must have made this bike available.
An email arrived from a buddy while sitting at my desk this morning. Basically said "hey, check out this link, isn't this one of those bikes you'd been looking for?" Sure enough, red SERG. Phone number with the ad so I called the guy.
Bone stock with the following exceptions: True duals, a set of highway pegs installed, passenger footboards, stubby antenna and a taller windshield. Stock windshield comes with it; so do the original passenger pegs, the original pipes, the original whip antenna, the correct bike cover, the liners and luggage. Near as I know to verify everthing that would have been with the bike new is here with it know.
Best of all the bike is clean. Very very nice. Not perfect never ridden nice. But it's been well treated. As good as any 2000 model bike that's been ridden some is going to be.
It was 70 miles from my house so no shipping cost to get it here. I also sold a vehicle less than a month ago so its sell will cover the sales tax for the bike's purchase cost. So the bike is here for the purchase cost and my time to pull the trailer back and forth to Springfield this afternoon :2vrolijk_21: .

Amen to that Scott. Got lucky last night and lucky again with this SERG this morning. Hell, I don't even care who wins the race tomorrow now :2vrolijk_21: .

Congrat Don!
We will need to see the full set of pics on Sunday.
Don't forget to turn your clock forward so we will not lose an hour waiting for pics!

Took some in the driveway upon getting it home tonight Chip. Will post them in just a bit.
After unloading it from the trailer the bike wouldn't start. Old battery. Knew I was putting a new one in it already as it just barely spun it over at pick up. Fortunately had the battery in the garage that had recently been bought for the SEEG. So popped it in and got going.
Had to take the tall windshield off to get it in the trailer so put the stock one back on. That actually caused what will be my first required maintenance issue. Two of the little rubber wellnuts for the windshield fell through inside the fairing when I (tried to) put the screws back in.
They were probably old, brittle, dry, shrunk, whatever.... Hopefully I can get it back together well enough to hang a windshield solidly for a ride on Tuesday. Weather is supposed to be great that day. If not, well, no big deal. Will get some new wellnuts and make it right whenever I can. It needs a full set of fluids changed before I do much with it anyway.

Almost ten years ago I brought this bike home and it's still probably the favorite bike I've ever had. Seeing another thread a moment ago where yet another rider had scored an old SERG after a years long hunt made me think of this one.
Gotta love good bikes :drink: .

And still one of the most beautiful bikes that Harley has made. Keep enjoying that old girl Don

It's nice to hear from someone who is still happy with their purchase 10 years after the fact. Sometimes it seems that all we hear is Harley bashing and that gets old no matter how well deserved. I hope you enjoy it for the next 10

If I'm still riding that close to 70 and not so infirm something smaller or three wheeled has become a necessity that bike will definitely still be my ride.

Still love riding my 00 at almost 75. I try to get out every Wednesday with the Patriot Guard and another day just for fun. SoCal is turning green with the wild flowers starting to bloom. Should be a super bloom in Borego Springs soon and for now poppy fields all around us. Its good to be on a SERG1.
