BigInchIron:
ok i have a 103" CVO with the 103 95cc scripted heads that's bored .020 over. it has the 4 3/8 stroke. the heads have been ported and polished with new springs and valves, right now with the redshift .587 my ccp is over 200 psi front and rear and rolls over slow. new battery and i'm on the third starter. the tech at the shop thought i had way over 10.1 cr. anyway the bike runs like a cut cat. but like i said its a pain to start. and i ordered the ez starts they should be here fri. any suggestions or advise?

busarealfast:
I'm running the 587 in my twin cam 117. Its designed to build crank pressure for low compression engines. The s&s 585 will lower your cranking compression without releases based on duration and overlap. Calculate your true actual compression for best results on cam selection. The 585 does run well IF compression is right. Alot of info on the web. Check the 103 cam shootout dyno section on the fuel moto site. Its eye opening.

johnsachs:
Since intake cam closing is basically the determining factor on building compression, ie. EARLIER CLOSE = more cylinder pressure. The 585 S&S cam intake closes at 45 degrees, vs. the 587 Red Shift cam intake closing at 35 degrees. The  Red Shift cam WILL build more compression, all other things equal. ;)
I just finished a 117" TRIKE build which I used the customers' 587 Red Shift cam, he had in his 110" engine. It should hit the dyno in a few weeks.

Any updates on the dyno numbers with the RS 587 john?

johnsachs:
The customer is picking up the engine at the end of this month. It most likely won't hit the dyno till sometime in January.
