I left Coronado this past Sat. morning at about 4:30 a.m. and headed out I-15 towards Vegas.  Near the Marine Corps base in Yermo I stopped for coffee at the famous Peggy Sue's

and from Peggy Sue's I headed up in the hills to Calico Ghost Town   https://www.google.com/search?q=calico+ghost+town&biw=1280&bih=717&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=L3gkVZ6eOYuwogTysoCABg&ved=0CCwQsAQ&dpr=1

and since Zzyzx was recently mentioned in another thread.... http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=101158.0  ...I had to stop by there and get a pic

and as I dropped down into the Nevada desert I saw the oddest thing...it looked like massive candle power lights miles off in the distance and above what appeared to be some sort of solar farm.

arriving in Vegas I immediatly jumped over on the strip.  As I was toolin along mindin my own business all of a sudden this horrable noise engulfed me.  I couldn't identify the sound or where it was coming from for several seconds but for a fleeting moment I thought I was about to be slammed into by a truck or something.  Then I realized it was a jet that passed very close over head as it was landing.  Whew!

I pulled in to the Days Inn and almost immediatly had a flash from the past as a couple of ladys approached me that looked like they stepped right out of the 50s.  I thought to myself "OK, how would Jock handle this?" as I went in to action.....asked one of them ladies husband to take a picture of me with his wife and her girlfriend.  How'd I do Jock?  :)

And about the time our very own Richard (rbaker) rolled in, several other 50s type walked out.  Damn, we haven't even made it inside yet......

This was only the beginning of what was going to turn out to be a very long day.  I inquired and learned about the Viva Las Vegas Hulla Balloo Car Show.  But before we made it to the car show we rode over to the new dealership on the strip (across the street from the "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign).

Ricahrd has a couple of CVOs.....an Ultra Classic and this Springer

and on downtown to Hogs & Heifers....

are they really dancin on the bar.....

and dinner at the Heart Attack Grill on Fremont Street....

Fremont Street is the main street downtown Las Vegas and often referred to as "the Fremont Street Experience" where everything on Fremont Street is an experience as the photos below will show.

and a quick stop by the Harley t-shirt shop there on Fremont....

and a new member to the forum, 3 bike slim aka Danny to many of you Nor Cal members

another "experience" is the zip lining on Fremont Street....

and yet another experience on Fremont....the show girls

It was a very long, very hot day in Vegas and there was a lot of pressure on me and the boys to cover this kind of ground.  But in the end.......I think we did pretty good.  We'll see if Jock approves.   :2vrolijk_21:

Right now it seems like I'll never get to the end of this ride report.  You know......kind of like it feels when you're heading on a long journey and have to be there in a very short period of time.  Still have many, many photos to post.  How do I cram so much in a three day weekend  :nixweiss:     :nervous: :nervous: :nervous:

There was more to that evening but like the ol' sayin goes, some things just have to stay in Vegas.  :P   Besides, you guys are probably all stuck on the last few pics but I'll keep movin along here.........

I got up Sun morning and took the long way to Lake Havasu City and Fullsac.  I rode out to Lake Mead and Hoover Dam first.  I'd been there many, many times but wanted to get a lot of pics for those that had never been.....

Like Sturgis, Laughlin just doesn't look the same when it's not the Luaghlin River Run with thousands of motorcycles every where within 100 miles.

Finally........arrived at my destination.  My first time in Lake Havasu City, Ariz.  Just a couple of weeks ago it was on the news as the new top hot spot for spring break.  After just a few quick hours it was apparent to me why it's the latest hot spot.

Do the British know that we have an American flag flying over their London Bridge?

I found the story to be very interesting.  The gentleman, Mr. McCulloch bought several hundred thousand acres around what is now Lake Havasu.  He needed a gemic to get people to come there so he could develope it.  About that time, the world famous London Bridge came up for auction.  He bid on it and got it for the bridge over to the island.

Steve, Cammy, Lexi and Moe (their dogs) and I had a nice dinner.  Visited for awhile and they headed off to their abode and I headed to my hotel, two blocks the other side of the bridge.

The next morning I stopped by Starbucks on the corner and met a gentlman, Mr. Reese, from Lake Havasu City.  He'd just picked up his 2015 CVO Street Glide.  He wasn't aware of the forum so I gave him a business card.  Snapped a couple pics of his bike before heading off to Fullsac

and Steve has rolled over to the dark side.....he now belongs to the club.  Here's a shot of his CVO Street Glide

As Steve finished my bike about 2:00 p.m. and google maps had my ride home at just under six hours current time, I jumped in the saddle and headed south through Parker...

Arizona alphalfa hay growing......

I-8, the freeway home.....123 more miles.

From Blythe to El Centro is a two lane backroads highway that has very little traffic and you're able to really make some time....

Soon I was flyin by North Algodones Dunes Wilderness Area.  Look more like the Sahara desert.  I kept expecting to see camels come over the rise at any time.

Just a little further and I'm back in Coronado.  Hope you guys have enjoyed the journey.  :2vrolijk_21:

Great pics, JC.  Where was this?  I saw the Palms in the background so between the Palms and downtown or the other direction (South)?  Also, your getting as bad as Jock on the tease.  He's taught you well, grasshopper.... ;D

Thank you for sharing. I've been to Hoover damn and Vegas a couple times. Enjoy Hogs n Heifers. How do you get all of those gorgeous shots while moving on the bike?

Looks like the water level is alarming low.

Haird, the Car Show was south of "The Palms" at "The Orleans Hotel and Casino" on Tropicana. I think it was their 18th year there.

I've been doing it for a number of years.....ride with a Nikon hanging around my neck.  Often shoot on Auto, one handed.  Other times I put it on cruise control and use both hands....one to hold the camera and the other to focus and/or change settings.

While you see a few hundred photos, I've probably taken four times that many just to get the pics good enough to post.  I spend a lot of time each night back at the hotel deleating all the bad pics......or I should say the really bad pics.  Jock and a few others here have given me tips on shooting, lighting, color, etc.  Jock's my hero when it comes to photography. :2vrolijk_21:

It was really challenging riding around the sharp slow curves around the dam and bridge at slow speed, riding one handed while shooting with the other hand.  Have Mark (Ironhorse to thank for some of those slow speed skills (except he didn't teach us to do it one handed).

I owe a lot to a lot of people on this forum!

Thanks for the heads up....guess we need to plan the next Spring trip out around this event.

JC, thanks again for the pics.  We rented a car a three years ago and drove to Laughlin for a couple of days.  From Laughlin back up to Flagstaff and the G.C. then back to Vegas.  Laughlin reminds me so much of what Reno and "old Vegas" was....interesting place.  Guess I need to put the river run on my list of things to do.
The new HD shop in Vegas is so much better than their old place on Sahara Drive.  We were in there in January but no CVO's....looks like they got the UV blue after our trip out....dang it.  STILL haven't seen that bike in person.
We are in Las Vegas at least twice a year.  Next time out, I'll give you a shout and y'all can come over for a supper on me.... :2vrolijk_21:

Thanks a bunch you guys, for all the strokes. I enjoy photography but I do the ride reports for all of you.  For those who've been (Haird and others), just to reminisce.....for all those who've never been, maybe to entice you to get out and ride to places you've never been.  But be warned.....those long haul journeys can get very addicting.  Ask people like Jock, Marty, Andy,  Panhead Jimmy and many others on this forum that do go to both coasts, Canada and Mexico.  :2vrolijk_21:

Look for the next one, next month......  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=99254.0

Richard brought this to my attention this morning  http://www.msn.com/en-ca/autos/enthusiasts/200plus-photos-of-vintage-american-iron-from-viva-las-vegas/ar-AAaAOvC

I actually bumped into the photographer several times throughout the day.  We had an interesting but brief conversation.
