MY FIRST HARLEY!
« on: March 12, 2007, 04:34:57 PM »

One of my OLD riding partners recently sent me a picture of my first new Harley that he found while cleaning out his attic.

Its a 1976 Sportster Bicentennial Edition. It came from HD with the Eagle graphics and black metalflake paint.

Could this be a Scremin' Eagle predecessor????

HD made Bicentennial Edition FLH's, FX's and XL's. I have a real nice, original Bicentennial FXE. These machines came with a factory "security system" that was mounted on the license plate bracket; most people took them off right away.

I don't recall anything "custom" built on this scale between '65 and '75; although that is just my memory; there may have been something built. I do recall that HD had a very limited Confederate Edition XL in 1977.

Attached are a couple of pictures of the tank graphics.

A judge thought my first ex wife needed it more than I did!  And she didn't ride!
 :nixweiss:

Come to think about it, that bike had a lot to do with her being an ex.  On several occasions my buddy and I would go for a ride on a Friday afternoon and get back home in time to go to work Monday......

My brother had a brand new 76 Superglide, I loved those tank graphics. I remember that bike like it was yesterday. I was only 16 and didnt have one of my own. But, he let me ride it, and wash it, if I find one now, i'm buying that sucker, just for old times sake.

Great pics and stories.  Thanks for sharing them.

I love those tank graphics.  Reminds me of my youth.
