Full Coverage Bike Insurance for Europe
« on: April 08, 2012, 11:52:40 AM »

Been with Dairylands for a long time. Found out they don't have a overseas policy.  Called USAA and they only have liability coverage. Going to dig a little deeper with them since two people told me they had full covereage when they were overseas with USAA.  If you've been overseas with a bike and had full covereage can you send me a PM.

Thanks,
Jim

I have full coverage on both of my Harleys with USAA right now. Been living in Germany for four years.

Did you get it once you were over there? I'm being told there is a international USAA number I should be calling. Would you happen to have a toll free number?  Not sure why the person I talked to didn't point me in that direction.  I'm going TDY to Germany next month. Been told there are a few insurance offices just off base.

Thanks,
Jim

Last time I talked to USAA about bike coverage here in the USA (which I've had with them for 20+ years), they told me new policies for any bike coverage are "sub-let" to another insurer (maybe GEICO?), but I am "grand-fathered" in with USAA since I already had coverage with them before they started sub-contracting.  I called GEICO to check on prices with them, and even with my USAA membership the price was about 25% higher than my current with USAA.

Anyway, it may be that USAA and/or their sub-contractor aren't writing full coverage overseas unless you are G-Fd, which may be why DU could get it?   :nixweiss:

I also have full coverage through USAA here in Germany. I have had a bike policy with USAA prior but not at the time I moved over here.

may I ask what they charge you for full coverage?

I pay 750 $ for one bike taxed 60.000 $ with Ergo Groups Harley-Davidson Insurance Service  in Germany, full coverage 35 %.

Kraut I am paying a little over 1400usd a year...however it is discounted for winter storage, so I don't pay that full amount... 500usd deductibles and full replacement with 2500 in accessories.

that seems quite expensive - perhaps you should check here for a local offer.

Kraut thanks for the link unfortunately it comes to late, I am going back to the States in a few weeks. I'm sure their are several other members on here that could use it. There was a topic a couple weeks ago that also addressed the same thing. Seemed almost all of the americans stationed over here was paying in the same range as myself.
