Andrews 48 cams, OR a stage 4 kit???
« on: August 14, 2015, 07:06:23 AM »

Currently have 96hp and 114tq on my '08 CVO Springer.
After a bit more punch.
Cheap option, 48 cams and re-tune ( gain 8-10 hp and 8-10 tq, if possible ).

$$$$$ option, 10.5 pistons, 58mm throttlebody, Heads ( by Hoodie ), SE 260 cams and 4.9 injectors ( gain 30+ hp and 20+ tq ).

With the cheap option, Is it worth while to cut .040" off the heads and put in a .030 head gasket, just to boost Comp. ratio?

Where in the states provides good service and cheap prices for the parts etc.

Any advice, info would be appreciated.
thanks boys.

If my 255 cams ever need to be replaced, I am going to the 48's...I like the extra  mid/upper without a big loss on the bottom. Maybe port match the heads and a .030 gasket and walk away. I know there are haters of the 255 out there, but 2 up on a dresser loaded down, they can't be beat IMO.

How many miles are on the engine now?

If it's low miles, I'd skim cut the heads to 92 CC.
Bring the cylinders to "zero deck" with the pistons by skim cutting the cylinder bottoms. They are typically .010 in. in the hole.
Add the Cometic .030 head gasket.
Kury 24D or GMR 577 cams.
Optional item would be to mildly port the heads using the stock or slightly larger valves. Concentrating on a proper valve job and guide to valve clearances.
Professionally tuned with a TTS or Power Vision.

You should like the results. JMO.
