What are these plugs for? - 2007 SERK -
« on: June 23, 2015, 10:01:43 AM »

I noticed these plugs (yellow circle) recently after repairing a broken idle cable (red circle).  What are they?  They look like they would plug into the actual idle cable right where the two cables meet...

Any idea what they do?
Thanks

There is a switch in the idle cable that will disengage the cruise control if you move the throttle grip too far.  With the switch unplugged (as yours is) one of two things is going on.  Either the switch has failed so someone just unplugged it (cruise control still works) or for some reason someone just didn't like the function.

It's likely unplugged because the switch failed.

Those switches aren't an uncommon failure.  Lots of them running around unplugged.  Probably even more would be if the riders realized that unplugging that "cruise" switch still allowed the cruise control to work.
