Diagnostic codes
« on: April 22, 2015, 01:15:37 PM »

2003 RK carb throwing code 01 speed sensor...how do you clear? I held trip button down and it goes to clear but then re-appears after starting bike. Is there something else I should be doing? Check light does not stay on, just comes and goes every once in a while.

You must first repair what is causing the code.  If you cleared it and it resets then it's not repaired.  If you changed out a sensor then the sensor was not the problem.
I suggest that you refer to the service manual and follow the flow chart or trouble tree.  By skipping steps you may have over looked something.  Some times it can be a loose connection or a pin connection at a terminal.

As for the code your getting I don't have a manual here with me to look at and give you any information.  Someone may jump in with some more information.

Checked conections, wiped off sensor, (no residue). Speedo works ok. Bike has a Baker 6 speed with the inline calibrator which also functions correctly. It is my understanding that the sensor when bad will fail to give a speedo reading. Is that true?
