Been contemplating trying it but parts book says otherwise.  It looks like it could be very close.  I've found the book wrong on many fitment issues though.

i use lowers on my bike with the heavy breather.  BUT, in stock form, with the regular filter and the cover, it will absolutely not fit.  i had to get the compact filter, and run without the cover.  i have about 3/16'' of clearance.

so, unless there is a compact filter available for the elite breather, i don't think it will fit.

thanks,  I bought the compact filter at lunch and have both the elite and original heavy breather from my 09 SERG...one of them should work.

Compact filter will work, the other will hit the lowers.

Yes, it fit...barely.  I have about 1/16 to 1/8 clearance at the front oiler and between the front of the filter and lower.  I'll pull off later and mod the rear filter chrome cover by trimming material where the oiler is closest.  I'll post some pics.

any further development on this?  Can the filter on the Elite HB not be slid back a bit on the tube for clearance?

With the regular HB you can't because of the large diameter of the chrome backplate on the filter itself but with this one being flat on the front side and back side I would think it could be slid back a bit.

Only reason I ask (and revive this old thread) is I can't seem to find any solid info on it and am thinking about buying one because I like the looks of it.  Would hate to spend $350+ and it not work out, then HD not want to take it back.

FYI: Somewhere in the morass of emails on this subject I recall seeing a post where someone shimmed the crash bar at the top away from the from the frame and rebolted it to get more clearance.  I have no first hand idea whether it will work or not but maybe worth looking into.
