Shock Rebound and Compression effect on Sag
« on: August 17, 2015, 11:46:02 PM »

I finally got my Hyperpro shocks installed. I was told to 1st set the sag to 1/3rd of shock travel metal to metal measurement but the bumper will not allow it to travel that far. Do I measure to halfway point on bumper? I was also told, to set Rebound then the High Speed compression then the low speed compression. I appreciate any help getting it set up properly.  I had to machine spacers for shocks to allow clearance of the reservoir.  A threaded spacer was made on Swingarm mounts because shocks didn't fit in the channel, this made it secure and stable. Any Pointers?

Sorry I don't have any advice for you Itank, but that's one monster exhaust pipe you got on there. Would like to see a pic of the hole bike :2vrolijk_21:

I set shock sag by measuring from the top shock mount bolt to the ground, standing up with no load. Then I sit on it and remeasure, sag should be 3/4"to 1"  Setting sag by measuring the shock uses up all the travel before the shock even moves. jm2c  fwiw twinotter

The Progressive guy at Black Hills HD at Sturgis told me to set my 440's with 1/2" sag and go from there on ride adjustments.

Just as a reminder, that is to be measured from a known point on the bike over the axle area to the floor.  Not the shock extension / compression.
