Trailering question for moving from DC to Texas
« on: April 29, 2015, 12:38:11 PM »

Hello all,
I am in the process of moving and purchase an enclosed car trailer (6.5' high x 8.5' wide x 20' long 10K cap) for moving tool chests, mc lift, Kendon dual stand up trailer and 2004 FLHTCSE.

Trailer is setup to haul a car, any suggestions on securing the bike?

I've read a few post on wheel chocks, Bike Pro seems to be the most reasonably priced.

Or I do have the option to ship the bike for $500, with all the stuff in my garage that might be the way to go and I wouldn't have to worry about the bike getting damaged.

I plan on selling the trailer once my garage is built in Texas.

Cheers!!

Get a Condor wheel chock and mount it near the front. Install tie downs like you currently have. 4 needed, 2 front 2 rear.  Then don't pack anything near it. Pack all the rest of the stuff behind it. Be sure to place a bed mattress between the rear of the bike and the other stuff.  Good luck on your move.

Not too sure about where to load it. If he has more weight in tool boxes and such, He may want to load them towards the front and the bike in the rear.

Photos of the 2 tool boxes, kendon dual trailer and mc lift.

The Lift has a wheel chock, wonder if I secure the lift to the trailer then secure the bike to the lift.

What do you all think?

Cheers!

If you bolted the lift to the trailer floor, then secured the bike to the lift, I'd think that would be fine.  I'd double strap the front end (two sets of straps) and strap the rear to prevent any left to right movement.  Also, I'd make sure everything else, like those tool chests, are strapped very well.
