I ride mine to work and we take at least two good trips a year (1k+). I ride to work because I want to ride as much as possible. The whole trip is not all traffic (Atlanta) and when I am just riding it is great therapy so that when I get home I am felling much more recharged! We will usually take a few "get away from it" rides on weekends. We average a little over 10K a year. When we went to Daytona this year it was one of best riding trips ever! My better half really enjoyed the trip, the ride and the weather! It was great and enables more trips!
We are talking about Sturgis next year! That will be an adventure!
It is quite the experience. I've gone three times and it is one of my favorite places to ride. The Black Hills that is, the rest of SD is a big
The rally is an experience in and of itself which is different from the riding experience. Custer Park, Needles Hwy, Hot Springs, Devils Tower and of course Mt. Rushmore are all unbelievable. The people watching is like no other place but it can get a little overwhelming.
If you go, you may want to consider the week before or the week after and just have a few overlapping days. Get to have the experience with a little less crowds.
In any case, it will be an experience of a lifetime!
