For me, it went almost totally away (at idle) with the install of better lifters (GMR Performance). I used stock pushrods as I had the RB Covers off to inspect the valve-train. I was looking for the marks on the rocker boxers indicating contact from the valve keepers. I didnt see the tell-tale marks so I simply installed the lifters and put it all back together.
But it didnt get REALLY quiet, for me, until I switched oil. I was running Amsoil right after the lifter upgrade, and it was still a little ticky while going down the highway. So I listened, like an idiot, to the local HD, and installed SYn3. OMG it was horrible.. WAY worse.
It wasnt until I found out about Liqui-Moly 10w60 Pure Synth and tried it out, that it really got quiet. I rarely hear a tick this days, and when I do, it isnt enough to distract me from my ride with agitation. You can get the oil online or only at your local Napa. But for me.. lifters were the first big fix that got me closer.
I dont know enough about your bike to make a call, but its where I would start. The stock lifters were bleeding down while I was riding it. Not even just at idle.
I am sure other will chime in.
Thanks
