Seat
« on: June 02, 2015, 12:29:58 PM »

I just discovered two small rips in the dish of the riders seat my FLHTCUSE8.  My next surprise was the price to replace with stock CVO Hammock seat.  Has anyone else had issues with their stock seat ripping?  I am sure I am opening a can of worms but would an aftermarket seat give as nice of a ride, and what is everyone else using?  I am 6' weigh 215lbs and have a 34" inseam, ride mostly highway miles, average 11,000 a year.

I know Harley had seat stitching issues on some models (I think it was the '11 CVO RG).  If replacing the seat, I'd look at an aftermarket company, like Corbin, Mustang, Danny Gray, Russell, C&C, etc.  JM2C, but if replacing a seat, I'd buy aftermarket, not a stock HD seat.

I agree with Mark if replacing the seat. I think there are better options but if you wish to retain the heat function it's doubtful you'd recognize much if any savings. Never had any issues with my stock CUSE8 seat, but I've been investigating other options.

Have it fixed, MUCH cheaper than replace and most any auto/motorcycle upolstery place can do it. For example, I had a section replaced in my old RK Classic that I poked a hole in with a screwdriver in my pocket. Cost me $55.00 at local upolstery shop. Actually could not tell the diference when repaired.
