2014 CVO Road King Passenger seat question. Please help
« on: July 11, 2015, 04:06:38 PM »

Hi all. So,I removed the stock seat from my 2014 CVO Road King, and replaced it with a Mustang Solo seat with rider backrest. Well,I also ordered a passenger seat as well. The problem is, the passenger seat will not fit because of the 2 chrome/rubber strips on the rear fender. They're blocking the seat from setting all the way down and making a fit. My question is,has anyone removed these 2 strips off the fender, and if you did, was it an easy process? I was about to take on the task, but I don't want to start tearing and pulling, and ripping the fender up. Thanks in advance

It's on with 2-sided tape so just heat them up a bit and use some fishing line to pull through the tape and they should come right off.  Then use something like WD40 that will break the rest of the glue and tape that will still be stuck on the fender.  Anything that will break the glue loose and is safe for the paint will work.

I have two bikes with Mustang rear seat and Fender strips. If I remember correctly I removed the rubber bumpers on the bottom of the seat.

I have the same set up and used dental floss to remove them...no heat was necessary...then goo gone to remove the adhesive from the paint. Since the rubber bumpers on the Mustang seat are riveted, I chose not to remove.
