CUSE6-- would you?
« on: March 07, 2015, 01:37:21 PM »

Hey All:

I have been way too quiet on here for too long.....

I am considering buying a blue CUSE6 with 14k miles on it.

For those who know me....  I'd be moving up from the 05 Cherry....

would you or wouldn't you?

Any comments, lessons learned or things to look for?

probably a good chance the bike belonged to someone on here previously

Thanks

I would not, but then I don't have to.

LOL

Just joking, sorry, I am positive you will love the one you decide on.

Scot!

How's the world old friend?  So good to see your name pop up!

Is the 2011 you're looking at one of the red ones?

The 110 engine hasn't proved to be nearly as reliable as was the 103 in your 2005.  Lots of lifter and cam chest issues, some crank issue and significant compensator issues.  Other than that.....

It's all fixable though.

Be well buddy!

As Twolane mentioned, the Lifters - if not already changed out - would be a concern at that mileage. Mine were changed out with the newest Screamin' Eagle version (P/N ending in -13) at half that mileage due to metal loss on the rollers, which unfortunately also meant new cams, oil pump, ect....due to the contamination. I changed to full compliment cam bearings while in there and had the crank run out checked (I forget the exact numbers) to give myself piece of mind that it would last a while - no guarantees though. All the parts in mine were replaced with HD parts to maintain my ESP coverage.

*** But remember not everyone has experienced these problems, although many have. ***

I guess you have to determine what if any mods have been done to the 11.5 and go from there.

If the bike's engine has been modified at all then that would possibly change the list of items to check - or to take off any "list" you develop.

The 11.5 is a great bike and the blue is gorgeous. The 110 does have gobs of torque down low thanks to the 255 cams. I can tell you I love mine  :2vrolijk_21:  Is it worth it to you to move up 6 model years and 7 cubic inches??? Only you can decide on that question.

I love mine. No issues. 11,500 miles.

What was the outcome?

No issues here. Hopefully they have all the accessories that come with the bike, cover, gold key, headsets, etc.

Good luck
