Hello, I was curious if anyone has installed a Jagg oil cooler or an Ultra Cool? both have the fans. Also if I installed one would it void the factory warranty? 14 CVO RK

I am using the ultra cool reefer on my 2012 SG.  From my testing I have seen a10-15* improvement in oil temps.  From those I have talked to have said the jagg works for them.  I add Ward fans also.  As for warranty I can not give you an answer.  If you add the jagg in series I think they would be hard pressed to void your warranty. IANAL  As long as you have not removed the factory oil cooler is the questions.

Harley would be hard pressed to convince a judge that replacing an inferior oil cooler with a larger and better oil cooler could cause any failure.  This wouldn't fit into the "void the warranty" category IMHO.  Now if someone were to eliminate the stock oil cooler and not replace it with something equal or better, that would be something they could get nailed for legitimately.

I put the Jagg on my 2014 RK after my 117" build because I have one on my 113" 2013 Ultra and it works so good.

I did have a wiring issue on the '14 that I didn't have on the '13. Jagg's instructions say to pull the hot lead off the rear brake light switch. I did that on the 13 and it works fine but when I tried it on the 14 I had problems. When the thermal switch closed, instead of turning on the fan, the brake lights came on and stayed on until the switch opened and the fan never did come on. I emailed Jagg and they're aware of this and are working on a solution.

I moved the hot fan lead to an accessory wire and the fan and brake lights work now BUT when the switch closes my gauge light (speedo/tach) goes off for a few seconds. My guess is that all of this is due to the CANBUS system but I don't know anything about CANBUS other than how to spell CANBUS. I haven't done it yet but I'm planning on wiring the fan directly to the battery + cable to see if that makes everything work normally. I'll probably do that this weekend and I'll let you know what happens.

Better yet, get the special connection harness made for the HD-LAN bikes to provide power for your accessories from the protected accessory circuit, including the fan.  I personally don't understand why Jagg would suggest taking power from a brake switch, no matter what model year.  Perhaps those oil cooler specialists aren't used to messing with electricity?

Ok... thanks for the responses, I want to replace the OE cooler, the reason being is when I am in traffic the bike is very hot causing motor chatter, it's defiantly from running too hot. Any feedback on the Ultra Cool?

Hi Jerry,

I already tried that and I'm still having the gauge lights go out for a few seconds the when the fan starts. When I moved the hot wire from the brake light switch, first I connected it to the accessory switch behind the nacelle. That's when I notice the lights going off. I already had the accessory harness installed with the wire ends under the seat so I moved the fan lead there but the gauge light still goes off. Like I said, it only stays off for a few seconds and then everything seems fine but I know it's not right and I don't know if this will hurt anything long term. The accessory harness has hot wires that work through the switch and wires that are always hot. I'm going to try connecting to that hot lead on the accessory harness first (with an inline fuse to protect the fan) and if that doesn't fix it I'm going to tap directly off the + battery cable. I may not get to it today but I'll report back when I figure this out.

I have the Wards. They have lowered the oil temperature a good bit. Always looking for more. So, how much fan noise do you get with both running? If you get a chance, pictures of the reefer on your bike would be appreciated!
