Seat
« on: September 09, 2015, 05:00:17 PM »

The stock seat on my CUSE8 is starting to rip along some of the seams, I am considering replacing with after market or recovering the factory hammock seat.  I am curious as to what everyone else is using/recommending as a replacement seat.  Most of my riding is touring with a passenger so I need comfort for both rider and passenger, hopefully I am not opening Pandora's box here.
Thoughts?

Many people still change out their seats, but if there is one thing the MoCo did right since '09 it was the hammock style seat. Recover or suffer, your choice.

I had a similar problem with my '12 CVO Ultra Classic and the dealer replaced it. No costs. Is this a possibility for you?

Best seat I ever had was the hammock seat. Get it repaired or get a new one !

If you're happy with the comfort of the seat, get it recovered. My local upholstery shop was going to cut my seat down and make a new cover for just under $200.00... You'll be spending more than twice that amount on a new seat.

I have FLHTCUSE8 and the seat is also ripping around some of the seams, went by the dealership in Myrtle Beach where I bought the bike new. I been waiting 10 days to hear back from them to find out if it will be covered under warranty, they took pictures and had to send it to MoCo for approval. The guy at the dealership that handles this kind of stuff could be a little nicer. He made some comment to the effect I know what I would do, I just ignored him since he did not pay for the bike, I could care less what he would do.

Exactly! :2vrolijk_21:  You spent big buck getting that bike & the tearing at the seams is common problem with '12-'13 bikes.  I'm fortunate that mine has shown no signs of tearing, but many have!  Moco should make it right. :soapbox:

I have to agree with the others here....the best stock seat I've ever had and quite possibly the best seat I've ever had including aftermarket seats.

I spoke to the dealership, normally they are pretty good about this kind of thing but the response I got was "well it does have 30,000 miles on it so it must have been in the sun quite a bit, that will cause the leather to shrink and pull the seams apart"  I have been pretty good about putting conditioner on the seat over the past 3 years, was hoping for better life out of it.  I will be looking for a upholstery place to recover because as others have stated it is a very comfortable seat.

This post got me to look at mine and yup I got the same issue.  Most comfortable seat I ever had besides the old Road Zeppelin seat so a repair will be made this winter.
