2006 Tour Pak
« on: December 16, 2006, 06:26:29 PM »

Since my service manual is being "borrowed," and before I start taking chit apart I might not have to, does anyone have tips on moving the tour pak back?  Mine is too far forward.  Noticed this when compared to TCnBham's scoot today.  I think it is just bolts holding the TP to the TP support.  Am I right?

Yes, you can easily gain just a little space.  Two sets of mounting holes with one a bit farther back than the others.  On a "standard" tour pak is an easy one person and 10 minute task.  Have heard a couple others say, however, that on the paks with the amps installed beneath it's nice to have an extra pair of hands.

Thanks.  Should be easy.  From the looks of it, I'll need to put something soft between the amp and the rear fender, as it looks like it is going to come loose.

Hi Bagger,
You should be able to see a set of unused holes if you take out the liner in your Tour Pak. The bike comes set up in the forward position and usually the shop during setup moves it to the rear position. The difference is only one inch but it may help if the shop failed to move it back during setup.
Many on this site have bought the bracket above from Mr. Anderson and it does allow lots more room and is well worth the money.

Quoted from another Forum dated Dec 12, 2006....

---------------------------------

For anyone needing a relocation kit for their tour pak George will have to be contacted via his cell phone....the only advanced technology product he owns. He will be spending the winter in the Lakeland area of Fl. and won't be back in Il until March. He has taken some units with him and will ship from Fl. or have his grandson that is staying at his house ship from IL if necessary.
George has his bike with him so give him a call if you live in the area and want to ride. He lost his wife recently after an extended illness and I'm sure he would enjoy some company riding. He's a great guy and a lot of fun.
His cell # is 309-236-0952.

Thanks for the info FR8TRN,

Sad news to see though.  :'(  I had talked to her and George several times when I bought my bracket from him. They seemed to be a very nice couple. 8-)

I hope some of our Florida CVO folks can give him a nice welcome and maybe go on a ride. His bracket has helped many of us. 8-)
Prayers will be with him.

I think his price is somewhere around $105 now, you'll have to call him to be sure though....

Thanks FR, although I have it moved already.  Pretty simple, nothing but some new holes and some aluminum plate as reinforcement.
