Indoor or Outdoor Cover
« on: January 03, 2016, 07:18:10 PM »

Hello, I am expecting delivery of my 2016 CVO street glide in a couple of weeks (black licorice with cobalt flames) after mods are installed. Here's my dilemma, I just moved last winter into a raised ranch with a small one stall garage and had my old street glide sitting in another garage closed all winter with a indoor cover. With this house my girlfriend has animals going in and out the garage all day along with her family so for the most part the garage door is open all day! Living in NY, winters are not fun and I plan on putting the bike in the back of the garage covered up so do I stick with my indoor cover or use the outdoor cover that comes with the CVO since the garage is open most of the day?

If the garage is open all day then closed at night under any cover that didn'tbreathe very very well I'd worry about condensed moisture. A true outdoor cover would worry me.

You may want to get something like a bike capsule or showcase?

I just toss a couple of old sheets on mine for the winter. Breathable and should keep the critters off it.

I have a similar situation at my house so I got this 4 years ago and it works terrific. Protects the bike from anyone hitting it with packages (or firewood..) while keeps the bike spotless even dust free. Opens or closes in seconds and completely seals on the bottom with velcro. After 4 years cover still looks new. I say firewood because this morning one of my kids was bringing a load in the house and dropped a log on the cover and luckily hit one of the cross braces so it just bounced off. I was standing there (pissed off off course..) thinking how glad I was again (things like this have happened quite a few times because of where I have to park the bike) for using this cover

Does your dealer store bikes for the winter? Might be the best option.

I put mine on my J&S Jack with the $100 indoor Harley cover plugged in to my battery tender.  It's off the ground and its cover....

JM2C...I'd go with breathable cover, raise it up on a bike jack, and a battery tender.  You may know this, but you're better off not starting a stored bike.

The only time I use that outdoor cover is if it is nasty outside and I am cutting wood or something that creates a lot of dust.  Once I am done and the dust has settled, I pull the cover off.
