im doubting guys are going to "pretty" cam plates because they look cool, (jeez,i hope not anyway)

;D   When it comes to Harley and Harley owners, I would never assume people wouldn't buy a particular internal part just because it looks cool.  Harley has trained customers to think that way for decades, where style always outweighs actual performance.

If anyone wants to make quick bucks in the aftermarket parts business, all they have to do is mention the right buzz words.  Billet is a really big one.  The fact that a billet cam plate or billet mirror or whatever doesn't necessarily work any better than the standard variety hasn't stopped people from buying them in large numbers.  In fact, I'm getting ready to head over to the plumbing supply house right now to see about a billet toilet seat to replace that inferior wood and plastic model.

And there is counterfeit billet too.
Had some photos of a fully CNC machined, red anodized, rocker support plate that broke due to internal porosity.

Did it make my bike perform any better...Nope, but I have a love for machined billet. I know they are usually stronger and more precise. And, since I already had the clarity cover...why not. Got the high flow oil pump with it though. Also mounted the Zippers dual piston chain tensioners, and high end cam bearings. Basically $400 burning a hole in my pocket

Guilty as charged. They don't get the labor $ though. I enjoy that part

Hey Kirby, what should we do about the stock cam plate and oil pump. Should we upgrade the bypass spring to allow more oil, or upgrade the pump, or both, or anything when we go to say a 113 or 117?

the by pass spring isn't a bad idea, but if everything (pump & plate)is OK,you really don't need any "add ons"
