Question about Cometic 0.030 head gasket
« on: March 30, 2016, 06:33:36 AM »

I see several people add this to their build. From what I understand it bumps compression up some. Out of curiosity, what can you expect as far as compression by adding this to a stock 110"? Just trying to educate myself on all of this stuff :)

Thank you!

wont really raise the compression all that much, about .25 of a point, but your tightening up the squish (how close the piston comes to the head)which will help as far as combustion burn & detonation goes

I haven't ran the numbers for a 110ci, but going from a 0.040" to 0.030" HG takes a 117ci from 9.9:1 to ~10.2:1.

If you are considering pulling the heads for a compression bump, you can shave up to 0.050" off the heads AND do the HG for a more dramatic compression increase.  For example, I was able to pump up the 117ci kit from 9.9:1 to 10.8:1 by shaving the head AND using the thinner HG.
