Compression
« on: January 07, 2014, 08:40:34 PM »

I notice the 2014 CVO engines have less compression.  Any body know why?

The static compression ratio is only part of what need to be looked at. It's the package and the 110 uses a different cam profile, head and valve sizes than the 103 does. This is why things are different. The 103 water cooled 2014 has a different static compression ratio from the air cooled 2014 103 too.

Thank you for that. That is why there are auto compression releases on the 110 and not the 103

Cam profiles can't really be addressed in a few paragraphs. Depending on the profile they could  start easily or hard, may idle good may not, cam might turn on at low, midrange or topend. There are many websites that explains cam profiles pros and cons.
