HD, I've been using the Roberts system on my touring bikes for the last 4 years.( www.bikersgostrapless.com) Unlike the competitor's nothing mounts to your bike permanently.Have hauled from ks to the west coast behind the motorhome not so much-as a wiggle.

I have two storage containers that I use to hold my bags. Wrap them in a blanket and place in containers and strap them down also.  Have carried them in the back of my Expedition , but found it easier to place containers in the trailer and secure them.  I have had two bikes in the trailer and there is still plenty of room to carry any cargo I might need.  Jack, stands, etc.. to change a tire on the truck or trailer.  Trailer is 7' x 14'.

Use a WheelDock.  Usually in my garage to use as a parking stand.  Front tie downs.

I have the same bike as you, can you let me know where the blue straps at the front are attached to.  A picture would be great if it's not asking too much.

Thank you

Just got my new CVO Black Ultra a few weeks ago, and need to find the best and safest way to tie down the front end while trailering.  There is a cosmetic "filler" piece on the front end that makes it difficult to get a good tie down spot, and the fairing will not allow a line to the handlebars.  The aforementioned "filler" piece also wraps around the side of the down tubes, so I can't add one of the "hook points" to the side of the down tubes as is possible on a standard Ultra.

Anybody know what I am talking about and have a good tie down solution for the front end of my CVO Ultra?  Someone has suggested a "Condor" so that the front end will be stable without tying down.  Would appreciate responses from anybody that can provide tried and tested solutions for this.  Thanks.

No, no!  Whoever told you that will lie to you about other things, too.  Later--HUBBARD

Sorry, Hub!  I have a Condor.  Ride into it, get off and tie the back down in 2 locations only, either by the saddlebag guards or the frame depending on the bike.  One man operation all the way.  Thousands of miles of trouble-free trailering for me.  I'll show it to you in July if you want.  No lie! :P

Of course, you responded to a 6 year-old post so who knows what HD Rider did!? :o ;D ;)

Hey Brian,

Any trouble rolling out of the Condor by yourself? I have an HF chock and I can't roll the Road King over the pivot point by myself. I'm definitely gonna upgrade, looking at Condor and Wheel Dock.

How in the hell did I do that?  I've got a Condor, too.  I tie down the front on both sides, and one off the Saddle-Bag guard on rt. rear.  I remember OTIS loaded his up and didn't tie it down.  Not good!  He was mad as hell 'cause somebody told him he didn't have to tie-down with a Condor!  He always made me laugh my ass off!  I miss him a lot!  Later--HUBBARD

None, Joe!  Well, as long as I'm not pointed downhill!  They're adjustable so as long as you put it where they recommend with a slight air gap under the cradle, no problem.

I read thru this fully and I must admit I am amazed at the lack of understanding some have. Those of you that use a chock in the front with no tie-downs, that is crazy, even Condor says you must have two forward facing tie-downs to hold it in the chock.
Then there are those of you who for some reason tie the rear down with tie-downs facing to the rear... You do realize these in effect are pulling the bike OUT of the front chock if you experience any sort of failure to the front tie down/chock?
The front tie downs/chock (whether it be a Condor type or Pingel) are in combination to hold the bike securely vertical in the trailer, the rear tie downs are to keep the rear of the bike from "swinging" to the side in the advent of a accident and these rear ties need to pull toward the front as well. This will result in the bike being "Pulled" tightly into the chock if any of your other systems fail.
The bike has to have force holding it into the chock in the advent of a accident and that means all Four or Six tie downs must pull forward. Also using the rear crash bars will only result in a bent crashbar if you have a loss, they are merely thin-wall chrome tubing, not strong enough to hold 900# of swinging weight.
AND if you agree or disagree, I do not care how many time or miles you have done it your way, unless you are pulling forward with at least four tie-downs what you are doing is incorrect. IMHO.

I agree with you. I just shake my head when I see some of these setups and people will get completely butt-hurt when you point out that the way they have been "doing it for thousands of miles" is really dumb, and they've  been lucky, not right.
If anyone trailers with rear tie downs only, I will dare them to install a GoPro in their trailer and review what happens while they blissfully cruise along.

Question, I've had people tell me the front tire needs to be strapped to the wheel chock front channel. Most don't do it so is this just extra safety.  I've never trailered my bike but have a trailer and may do it sooner than later for longer trips.  Wife does not like longer trips on the rear seat.

I do it. Just seems to make sense as it will keep that front tire in the chock without the chance of it coming out.

Then again, my setup might be a little overkill..

I finally used the newest Jeep to tow the bike to the dealer.....rolling out of the chock is much easier with the trailer sloping slightly toward the back.....I put the Quadra-Lift in Off-road 2 and it gives it just a slight incline (decline??).
