Garmin 665 Additional Memory
« on: April 08, 2016, 08:11:14 PM »

So my 665 is at the limits of it's on board memory. How do I get it to use the 8 gig card that I installed? It still says that there is only a tiny bit of memory left.
Thanks!

Have the same problem with my RT 660--says it's out of space, but doesn't seem to recognize the 8 GB card I put in.   :nixweiss:

What I did on my 550 when that problem presented itself was put all my music (MP3's) and mapset on the SD card. There were some other (unnecessary) files that I don't remember that were deleted also.

If the problem is you can't load all of the maps on the unit then you can load them on a SD card.

I have a 16gb card in my 660 and it recognizes it fine.  the internal memory is reported as low, because it is.  when trying to update maps, it will say that the internal memory is insufficient and if you want the map update, to put it on the sd card.  select sd card, and it updates fine.

Mine worked just like Scratch stated. No problems at all. If gives you the option and you choose it, easy-peasy.
