Exactly. I posted this trying to keep a friend from a less than stellar 117" build because he just has to have them. Have seen it here and other "boards" also. I should know better and keep my yap shut.

That's a great question. You could fit the CFR with a straight 2.0 louvered baffle. You would see improvement but your still missing the volume of the larger 4.0 can. The best performing muffler is a large body with a 1.75 to 2.0 baffle. The area in the body gives the exhaust pulse a place to go with out having to actually exit the muffler. That's how we get away running a 1.75 baffle, picking up bottom end and not loosing any on the top. Look at any 1000cc sport bike. Huge muffler, pea shooter exit, and ridiculous power. Quiet too. Imagine that?

Here's a pic of our new one. Zero taper. Gets to 4.0 immediately just like the OEM.

Personally, I don't know many people that have CFR's for the look - only for the sound.
