2014 CVO Breakout Fork oil drain
« on: April 15, 2016, 01:38:19 PM »

Okay, can anyone out there explain to me how to drain the forks on a 2014 CVO breakout.  I would like to put heavier oil in them.

I am not 100% sure but I heard they are a sealed unit good for 50000 miles .Then you have to rebuild them. :nixweiss:

Surely they are like a 2006 and up Dyna ?  ( I have not personally come across the "50,000 mile rebuild" story !)

Whereby you remove the forks from the triple trees , having loosened up the top nut first.

Then you carefully remove the top nut due to spring preload pressure , then you turn them upside down and pour the old oil out ?

Replace with the correct ml/oz , or "dipstick" the oil with the dealer special tool.

Earlier Softail Customs you had a wee drain screw in the fork bottom , and a non preloading top nut , easy to do the fork oil on them puppies !
